Donnie has ordered an investigation in to his political opponents and into the investigation that is investigating him. This is the type of thing we see from dictators in Banana Republics so Donnie has, without doubt, already threatened the constitutional and democratic process in the US, thank God there are checks and balances in place to prevent him from becoming the type of autocrat he clearly covets.

Well that’s it exactly. With all the talk of Nazis and dictators there are systems in place to prevent a repeat of such things in the West today. I would think that those that oppose Trump as President would be happy at his behaviour as it is just likely to bring him to the end sooner rather than later if it continues. If he was doing something seriously wrong I don’t believe it would go unchecked. His days are likely to be numbered but just as long as that doesn’t leave America with Clinton as it would be no better off in my opinion.

Nah I'll give you three: he was beaten on the muslim ban, the repeal of Obamacare, and the Wall is spinning its wheels.

What are the signs that Trump will "destroy democracy" ?

The thing is, he had a lost of support for both investigations he wanted to start. There were many people who wanted to give him the power to simply investigate someone he didnt like without a lick of evidence. Whats happening in the US is rather scary and what is most scary is the lack of resistance from the GOP establishment. Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell these guys wouldn't shut the hell up when Obama was in power, yet now deafeningly silent.

Yeah already answered you. But Donnie is definitely trying to get around those annoying check and balances. Thank god the US is indeed a democracy but he's trying to change that.

That of course works both ways.

A vague response that doesn't really offer anything to the conversation and, in the context of the post you replied to, it doesn't make much sense and makes it sound like you're defending rioters? It's unclear.

Yup, he has shown that anyone can come into power if you get enough idiots to believe the fairy tales you spin.

You are correct in most of what you say there. But you know deep down that Trump isn't the only person ever to show us this, don't you?

Yup, it's just annoying how people never learn from the past.

It was democracy that elected Trump. You can't cherry pick to ignore it if it doesn't suit you.

And you can't choose to ignore how democracy can be corrupted either nor can you ignore Russia's interference in the election itself but here you are doing exactly that.

I certainly am not defending rioters - simply pointing out that the thugs on the left don’t need much excuse for violence. Thugs are thugs whatever their politics but I don’t see you making the same noises about left-wing thugs.

And he's already taken unprecedented steps to get around the democratic process, so lets talk about how much he respects the democracy and people that got him elected.

The US was officially downgraded from a "full democracy" to a "flawed democracy" so... It was a flawed democracy that elected trump. So yes, you can choose to believe that that result was undemocratic and still believe in working democracies.

bots 24-06-2018 05:13 PM

just because there is a democratic vote doesnt mean that a country gets a good leader. One has to look at the range of available choices along the way and what flawed people ended up being the final 2 available. Clinton was highly disliked by an awful lot of people before politics even entered the equation.

There is evidence of Russian collusion too, it will all come home to roost at some point.

Or you're confusing opportunistic rioters for protesters in order to push your crusade against the left, that's more likely.
