In fact, I would say often narcissism is up there in terms of the list of requirements necessary to break into fields that are historically nearly impossible to break into... not many people are and can be narcissistic in that sense... a lot of people we would typically consider narcissistic I would say are mislabeled... really just have a superiority complex, but a weak sense of self... which is a cover for low-self esteem, not a steady disposition ... is not the same as the person who would believe enough in themselves to take their narcissism to that level, if you know what I mean...

Usually when someone like that makes their views known, it's not necessarily meant to be provocative, but they do see their purpose as rocking the boat... "... and most of the time, for a creative narcissist, the issue is always other people... i.e. they need to fix society, people need to be "taught" they are wrong, that what they think is leading them the wrong direction, etc...

They do tend to think of the rest of society in general is "OK" with mediocre, i.e. they're not really "seeing" the world... just kind of living it and sticking their head in the ground sort of thing... happy to blend in, agree and regurgitate what they consider utterly stupid ideas... and they think most people cannot be truly creative in a sheep mentality, etc... so they see themselves as people who wake others in that sense.

In fact, they get higher degrees of stimulation from interacting with the world on a meticulous level and in their mission to create something that is "world changing"... otherwise, it's boring because they find shallowness to be boring and they find a vast majority of society is highly predictable and mundane... so they crave the finer things in life, the non-mundane and they seek like personalities who aren't just followers of a group and happily working for others, and who actually see themselves as individuals... what is the point of being a creative if they're just going to do what is easiest, most profitable (though it does matter to an extent if you want to achieve greater things and gain recognition for it), will get "cheap" fame, etc... they would like to do what is visionary... is what they would say about their devotion to their craft... and is my experience of those types of mindsets.

No one would accuse Steve Jobs of not believing the things he says. I think obviously he fits that personality type. I think what a lot of people misunderstand about Trump too, is that actually he is quite high in intelligence... but like Steve Jobs and Kanye, he has some pretty devastating flaws ([emoji23]) that make them hard to relate to (irl) for the mass majority of folk in society, so some versions of intelligence in this category may not really be something most people can identify much less appreciate at least on that level... and basic social interactions, small talk, doesn't really appeal to them either... keeping in mind, the same people they've managed to piss off currently/previously... they have all gone against the herd at some point and paid a heavy price from those same folk... but because they see them all part of the "sheeple", for lack of a better term, they feel that only affirms they're going in the right direction... actually... they also know people are fickle and can change their minds when shown the error of their ways... so in their mind, they'll be proven right eventually... if even past death... they're willing to wait as long as necessary...

So it comes as no surprise to me that Kanye would feel like they're like both sharing the same bandwidth in this world, and are each other's "spirit animals" in that sense.... if he is a creative and views the world in that large of a fashion, then that's pretty typical of narcissistic creatives... who view themselves as black sheep or as wolves in a pack of sheeple... someone who most others would be allergic to or have a strange love/hate relationship with... is I guess what he meant by dragon's energy or whatever...

But yes, TLDR... narcissists really do believe the crazy stuff they say. In fact, their opinion of things dominates their world view and guides their purpose in life... typical people's opinion probably doesn't even register with them in that fashion... only that it's purpose is to validate/support their worldview... is my opinion...

Edited some things

Yeah, no, Kanye's a tool.

Yes, Kanye was universally adored before he came out as a Trump supporter.

But yes, they're two people in a very similar boat;

They have achieved massive success and yet, nonetheless, are perceived as "a joke" and the harder they try to be taken seriously, the funnier the joke becomes.

"How can you laugh at me?? Look at all I've achieved! Look at everything I've done! Look at all that I have!"

"lol still ridiculous [emoji23]"

"Whyyyyyyyy!!!"

I suppose it must be frustrating, and it's inevitable that such people would be drawn to each other.

ha, true.

When Shania Twain said she'd have voted for Trump, Twitter was full of people sperging out, saying she was "cancelled". I'm not sure if she was universally adored, my impression was she was at best quite liked, at worst largely forgotten?

Many folk are fickle I think when it comes to celebrity. Most reasons they have for "liking" others are largely superficial ones... but get right down to it, the knitty gritty.. and people find reasons to dislike someone if they no longer fit within some perceived box.

We see this kind of thing play out in CBB/BB sections every season... people like to think they're backing a "winner"... or at least someone who can maybe rise to that challenge... but then people also love to get behind a good underdog... so it's always interesting to see how those fandoms play out. Especially when pet issues or political narratives come into play... it's easy to see where people duck down when their fav is no longer one of the crowd favorite(s).

Can't wait for the Rally tonight in Michigan. I might even stay up to watch it. I'm sure Donnies gonna have a few things to get off his chest. Having a rally on the same day as the White House Correspondence dinner though

No, I think like Trump, there was a lot of love/hate... but that's 99% of celebrity when we get down to it... both of them have been using their Twitter accounts to create interest and controversy for years now, and both are very good at generating an impressive amount of engagement through that platform... and it has been interesting to see Twitter to evolve from being a trite celebrity+fanbase platform where average people log their intellectual bowel movements, to now a major player in the political atmosphere... they and the Kardashians have all had a huge influence in getting Twitter to where it is today... and to be fair, a lot of folk, particularly celebrity, have done everything to emulate that kind of success... and I think Kanye's brand is an example of that.

I don't really care whether he's intelligent one way or the other tbh.

He does things like this the same reason his wife and her odious family does theirs... money and fame.

He may well be a genuine fan of Trump, but that's not the driving factor behind this cringeworthy "bromance".
