But if cases like this allow homophobia and all the other forms of bigotry in the world to remain normalised, it does nothing to help the bigger forms of it.

Yes, like all these nations with appalling human rights records towards lgbt community....why do fifa allow them to participate while fining a nation for something they have no control over.....hypocricy and greed.
