And I'm trying not to be hypocritical because I eat meat, but I believe that the festival is wrong, just as much as I believe the way that we kill some animals is wrong, and if it was my dog that they stole from my home, I'd be flipping furious. But no petition is going to make them give a ****.

Well I for one would rather die from a gunshot to the head than have my skin ripped off or tossed into boiling water alive,I don't see why people can't see the difference, also some of these dogs have been saved through petitions etc , what is that saying ' Bad things happen ,when good men stand back and do nothing ' how true.Change can start with one person.

I honestly don't think it is when these dogs are being intentionally tortured and then killed in the most brutal painful ways possible, at least there is some small degree of mercy given to slaughtered animals over here if anything.

:clap1:

Fair point, as I said in my original argument I'm not saying they are the same thing, just that we are guilty of killing animals inhumanely and therefore can't really argue against another country doing so. I can't stress enough though, that I'm not supporting the festival or saying that I'm "OK" with it. Nor am I OK with some of the practices we have over here. I just think people need to start looking a little closer to home before taking issue with other cultures.

They steal peoples pets and torture them in the street, breaking their bones and ripping their coats off while the aninals are still alive because apparently the meat tastes better if the animal is kept alige until they are final boiled alive. All this happens in the street as a celebration.

If you don't think that is fundamentally wrong then wowzers.

I'm not saying I agree with it but nothing we can do is gonna change anything. This petition is meaningless and no one can make China do anything they don't want to do.

Yup.

No matter how nicely you treat an animal beforehand, they still know what's going to happen to them and stunning isn't as humane as it's made out to be, they can still feel what's going to happen to them, it's not an anaesthetic, it's a health and safety issue so that the animal can't lash out at the executioner while it's dying.

Death is unpleasant, this festival even more so but at the end of the day you can't change either of these things.
