Rereading this link, yes it seems thats possible.

However, the story of this (it surely cannot be two seperate asdas in birmingham) I read I swear it said they had left the child in the car willingly.

They put a call out over the tannoy with the car reg in the supermarket and she still didn't come ..

I won't be surprised if the woman who rescued the baby gets a bill for the damage to the car

This is why I thought it was willingly of course, as that part was too unbelievable to me. The story does not state it was willingly leaving the child in the car, however I figured the tannoy announcements, would surely have actually said, theres a ****ing baby in a hot car outside and given the reg. Which would jog you that it was your child.

I seem to have conflated my personal thoughts on this case with the actual story presented, and then convinced myself that part of the story was that the child was left willingly :S

i couldn't tell you my car reg, and most people don't listen to announcements anyway, so I hardly think the person can be blamed for missing that. Leaving a kid in a car is just a no no under any circumstances though, and nearly an hour is pure neglect.

To be fair, it's not that easy to break modern car windows, they're designed not to shatter during crashes etc. because of the danger. Your best bet if you really need to get into a car and don't car about damage, is get something in the gap between the door and roof, pry it open enough to get something ledger in, and then pull it away from the car. You should be able to bend the door of most cars enough to open the door from the inside.

You'll need a new door, though.
