I don’t understand how this is going to work at all. You can drastically tell the difference between the cameras being used behind the mirrors and the ones on the wall. How are they going to see everything?

If it saves costs and keeps things on the air and works mostly the same, then it's probably not an issue...

thats site did not make scene to me as it said nothing about not using camera man... But mayby i miss read it.

How can they not have cameraman, someone needs to angle the cameras zoom in to where the drama is...

I think they usually have someone writing up what is being said and what time it was said so that the footage can be easily found later when editing it or coming up with 'best bits', someone just need to type the words in and find out where that footage cane be found... To me that auto thing seems like its just an auto speech and face recognition...

I have a read and write thing to... you speak and it types up everything you say.. Im dyslexic so often need it... but it often gets things wrongs so someone will need to check that its right... and camera man need to angle the cameras correctly

I don't think this conflicts with the concept of 'back to basics', but I am slightly concerned. has this been done before?

Not to dumb down a profession, but cant a stationary camera do the job, and then they can sort out all the zooms and **** in the editing.

They can till do that without camera men

They really cant seeing as the cameramen have their eyes on the action and can follow the housemates every reaction instantly whilst a robot is simply THERE and will essentially miss ALOT of stuff if theres say a fast paced argument or dramatic scene where all hands on deck are needed by actual camera men to capture it.

They are just trying to get that polished love island look which just comes across way to fake and not what BB is about...Ii like the raw camera work its more real.

Haha it is so much more than that. Firstly, if you zoom in later you lose a lot of quality. It will become pixilated, exactly the same as if you were to zoom in close on a photo you’ve taken on your phone.

Secondly, Not to forget that the camera operators in the house are ‘extra eyes’ for what’s happening. The gallery are focussed on what’s currently happening and what might be happening elsewhere whereas the camera operators in the house would be able to spot things like someone walking out of the room and stashing alcohol under their bed etc or two people fondling under the dining table etc.

Also, the remote cameras are only operated by one person per stream. You can only move one of those cameras at a time, so if let’s say it kicks-off at midnight. They will have a wide shot covering the whole room and then closeups of maybe each person involved. If you can operate only one camera at a time, you will lose coverage. Bearing in mind that previously you could potentially have 5 different close-ups of different housemates plus wide shots. This is not possible with the new set up.

Remote cameras aren’t really built for smooth movement additional pedestal cameras. All those shots that the show is known for, starting on one housemate then pulling the focus and tilting the shot to another housemate ie. showing two housemates bitching in the background then tilting down to the housemate they’re bitching about will be impossible on remote cameras or at least very clunky and not easy on the eye.

This is a terrible move, it won’t be obvious at first, especially as they will still be there for launch, evictions and tasks. It will be those late night drunken arguments etc where it will show.

Thats all useful and helpful... i bet thats what they’ll do anyway... Use a section of the entire frame with a bit of zooming. Most people watch it behind a phone or ipad anyway.

No difference at all, really. I only ever noticed the mirrors back in the day when Davina would go into the camera runs.

armand.kay 25-08-2018 01:48 PM

Maybe they never even god rid of the camera men this was never actually confirmed was it?

Oaker 25-08-2018 01:49 PM
