Yes, of course he can, but people are upset because Sam isn't just talking about Dua Lipa or Camilla Cabello. He's talking about one of the most talented and biggest selling artists on the planet who still has millions of fans who still idolise him and respect his contribution to music. MJ was a major force - still is (9 years after death). He sits up there alongside The Beatles, Elvis and Madonna, so to say "Human Nature" was a good song (As if it's his ONLY good song) would be a bit hard to swallow...especially coming from someone as Vanilla as Sam.

I actually agree @ none of his songs being great tbh

Human Nature (my personal favourite), Billie Jean, Beat It, Smooth Criminal, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Off the Wall, The Way You Make Me Feel, Earth Song, Scream w/Janet Jackson, Thriller, Black or White, Man in the Mirror, PYT (Pretty Young Thing), They Don't Care About Us, Say Say Say, Will You Be There...

There's plenty I'm not that keen on but are seen as 'greats' (Bad, Ben, Dirty Diana, Heal the World, You Are Not Alone)

And then without 'Wanna Be Startin Somethin' there'd have been no Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music, so that makes MJ a queer icon by default :clap2:

MJ isn't untouchable, neither are the other artists you mentioned. They might be ~legendary in the music scene, but that doesn't mean that people can't dislike them. I would take Sam's music over MJ's or of those others aaaany day. It's just personal preference.

So? It’s an open forum.

I don’t believe MJ had the perfect discography and I believe the majority of stuff released after Bad was mediocre.

I rank his first albums in order of release (Off the Wall onwards, can’t say I’ve listened to much of his solo stuff prior to that).

OtW > Thriller > Bad

Thanks, but no one's discography is perfect. Not even MJ'S ....which is why I ignored "Invincible" from 2001.

Off The Wall and Thriller are about as perfect as you can get.... Bad has it's moment's too, but doesn't quite get there despite all the hits. Dangerous is fantastic, but the first 4 songs are a bit of a drag. Everything after that is brill.

Thanks for stating the obvious.
Dangerous wasn’t all that and Invincible is a write off.

OtW is an amazing album, Thriller is very good and Bad’s a solid 8/10.

Nicky91 18-08-2018 04:14 PM

i more meant it like that some of MJ's uptempo songs sound similar to each other

I never said they were untouchable, Caprimint. Music lovers are perfectly within their rights to dislike whomever they choose, but a lot of people just disregard these legends without listening to their music (bar one or two songs). I do like some of Sam's music, but it's nothing spectacular. He's just a male vocalist who doesn't really do anything but sing. MJ earned every bit of his legendary status. Sam's good but I can't see him having much longevity, tbh.

Maan is a good singer, is now currently very busy with her clubtour which is getting extended a lot due to being sold out in no time
