I mean what she said is true
|
I get her point tbh
but she should've known she would get dragged for posting a list of only women of colour :skull: |
perched for a new album

God forbid getting on Beyoncé and Nicki’s fanbase wrong side though. |
"There is no place in feminism for me, a glamorous white woman" is not a valid point, no
|
She wasn't wrong though

Is this all people got from it? She made much more deeper points than that, but some people out there only see the race thing. She was not having it anymore and had to speak her truth. A lot (if not most) of her songs are about bad relationships either on the giving or receiving end...and yet people think she's making abuse "fun" or "glamorous". She is speaking the truth of what so many women live out there and don't have a voice. She's not doing what Nicky, Beyonce etc do and from that post I don't see direct shade towards them, but mainly towards the fandoms or people who think they are "woke" and think that what she's doing is wrong. And tbh she's singing about deeper issues than most of the artists she mentionned. |

Activist Rachel Cargle has built a brand — and a business — by calling out racial injustices within feminism ‘I Refuse to Listen to White Women Cry’ https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...thin-feminism/ When Feminism Is White Supremacy in Heels From tone policing to whitesplaining, the liberal white women's feminism is more toxic than they realize, explains Rachel Cargle. https://www.harpersbazaar.com/cultur...hite-feminism/ I'm not saying that Rachel creature is representative, but she's not the only one to karp on about such things... |

I think it's clumsily worded. She may have meant that those artists are free to express themselves how they wish and she wants to be able to do the same (despite... no one objecting? You were just Grammy nominated, and named the best album of the year by tonnes of publications, gal?)
She had some critics in her early/middle career but at that time she was just releasing the same dreary old **** every album, and was being presented as this breakthrough YouTube alternative star when she had just as much label cash being thrown at her as your Katy Perrys and Gagas at the time  now she's matured and honed her craft. The whole post does just come off as incredibly whiny and attention-seeking, though. |
yeah idc, she maybe should have worded it better, but this whole cancel culture ****! continues to be annoying

I think this was incredibly dumb of her and it comes across like she's very much up her own arse and thinks she's better than others.
However, the cancel culture is so, so tiresome. |
|
I do just think that it’s a case of awful wording but my god does she come off as a whiny ****.
|
I mean, sometimes you get mad and write dumb stuff and then cringe and regret the next day she's just human.
|
|
She should have made that clear in her original post
|
Her argument just doesn’t have any validity because most of the people she mentioned get hated on all the time. Does she think there was universal acclaim and no backlash when Nicki released Anaconda etc.?
Women who release any kind of sexual or edgy music are sadly almost always gonna be shamed I’m not sure why she thinks it’s just her? |

If she releases something as good as NFR again, she can say what she wants.

Mess at there being an album announcement amongst all of this
