However, this show is designed a certain way as to being there and what's expected.

If someone is unable to fully participate in full across the board, then sorry but for me, they shouldn't ever apply for it or go on it.

Being excused from trials or other tasks should never come into play.

That annoys me as to whoever it may be.

This.

I like Anne (especially on The Chase) but it isn't really very fair that Anne is allowed to skip a lot of the trials, and the stuff that she has had to do she's struggled quite badly with them.

Imo she'd have been more suited going on SCD or CBB when it gets revived.

Mystic Mock 24-11-2018 01:28 AM

My favourite Anne moments on the show so far are her mentioning the wonderful Birmingham City FC, and her struggling to get out of the Hammock.:joker:

How is it "not fair"?

It would not be fair to put a larger woman in a trial requiring her to crawl about in small underground spaces or for a woman unable to swim to be given an underwater trial. They stand no "fair" chance of completing that challenge. So, what is fair, is to allow someone more capable the opportunity to get those stars.

Or do we not allow non-swimmers, larger people and autistic people to enter the show, narrowing the type of contestant down considerably? Nah, that doesn't sound fair either!

I think that the show should be able to setup trials where all of the contestants can be elligible to take part, this show has had overweight contestants in other years so that's no excuse for the producers to not be able to involve her more in the tasks imo.

I however do understand that Anne will struggle more on certain trials due to her Autism, but these are experienced producers here that have done this show for years so they should be able to come up with trials that don't somehow play on Anne's Autism to an extreme degree.

Basically I'm blaming the show more than Anne for the controversy that she's receiving.

The basic problem is that many seem to excuse her for anything based on her autism where thats not just how it works. People have all sorts of reasons for behaving as they do, and are affected by stress, addiction, back pain, eyesight ... you name it, it affects people .... but it is rarely used as a method of condoning behaviour.

Egg on faces last night !! All the people saying Lazy Anne pulled out of her simple task because shes autistic, but managed to stay last night? kicks your theories into touch :joker: but how rude after she caved in last night not to stay and support her campmates ?

She's autistic .. when we panic we think of ourselves .. she just wanted to get to a quiet safe place ..

Come on guys it's not that hard to understand is it , really ?

I go from being the kindest , biggest hearted person in the world to being totally focused on myself and my needs ( this comes across as selfish ) ...

Thing is I have ZERO control on how I'm gonna react in a really stressful situation .

Have you people never panicked ?

Never been in a super busy supermarket with a full trolley but then felt hot and sweaty and had leave the trolley and dash home ??

If so remember the feeling and times it by ten and imagine going through life like that !!

If not .. then you can never really appreciate what it's like to have Aspergers / autism

Is it not possible she felt like she could have done better first time and is a little bit more settled in the environment so was able to do better second time? She can't win for some people, if she'd bailed early she would have been slaughtered, she stayed and did ok and still gets slaughtered. Must be great to be perfect

Crimson Dynamo 24-11-2018 10:51 AM

She was rude notcto wait last night

Denver 24-11-2018 10:55 AM

She stayed last night because she has support unlike the 1st trial

bots 24-11-2018 10:57 AM

If she stayed because of the support she received, why did she **** off and leave them to it when she had finished, rather than stay and support them?

Denver 24-11-2018 10:59 AM

Because that's not how her mind works as she explain earlier in the show.

It's hard for her to show emotionnal support and give support because she doesn't function like the rest

Could be the others there made her feel safer or could be the fact they were present also kinda put pressure on her to stay ..maybe a bit of both

you can't have it both ways, she either feels support and reciprocates it or she doesn't. It's just building a narrative to excuse her.

It really isn't that cut and dried ..

I've just recently explained that in stressful, pressurised situations I have no real control over my emotions..

Also ... slight tangent ( that's another aspie trait incidentally) .. I absolutely hate it when someone uses THAT word !!!

Narrative !!!

It hardly ever came up in general conversation back in the day and nowadays it's thrown in all over the place .. completely overused imho
