This for me, do it at your leisure from a comfy armchair, see all the offers listed and then pop in and out to add stuff if needed.

Only time I ever jumped a queue would be at the bar:blush:

JerseyWins 01-02-2019 04:54 PM

I just go to the lil self-checkout stations :fan:

They made the choice to go to that till so if another one opens then that’s their loss.

so if there is only one till open what other choice have you got though

I try to avoid them as they are basically getting away with you staffing their store :fan: and it is putting someone out of a job :oh:

So it is okay to do this or is the polite thing to do to offer the people in front the chance and if they don't want to move then hare off...

I shop online

As annoying as waiting in a queue can be, I always wait until my turn as I wouldn't like people queue jumping me.

Also I just don't like being so hostile in public.

This is much less of a problem if you go to civilised shops with a decent number of checkouts and not the dives where they have to sprint from the back of the shop where they were stacking eggs to the front to serve you, barrelling over three old ladies and a toddler on the way.

I have tried it but you end up with short dates on meat and fruit and veg, plus I don't do all my shopping in one store, I like to spread the wealth :fist:

This happens in all the supermarkets, they are cutting staff so they can cut their prices to match Aldi and Lidl :idc: I walked into Marks the other day there was one till out of about 6 open and the self serves

I've literally never had it happen anywhere other than Aldi :hmph:.

No I wouldn't push but I will fume inside if someone with a lot of shopping doesn't ask if I'd like to go first

Matthew. 01-02-2019 07:39 PM

Me, never, but someone jumped the queue in front of me today and I was raging but so as not to make a scene I didn’t say anything

LemonJam 01-02-2019 10:22 PM

Yeah it's hella rude.

Even worse if the person has a full trolley in front of me while I have only have a couple of things and another till opens and they still go in front.

Ant. 01-02-2019 10:35 PM

if you cut queues you're literally scum of the earth and i will not interact with you ever again

JerseyWins 02-02-2019 12:03 AM

I'm not sure if I've ever done this or not, or if it's been done to me, (probably yes for both) but I honestly NEVER thought of it as rude. Like I don't think I ever thought about it period until I read this thread lol but I would've just thought the people last in line get first dibs as they were last in the process of choosing a line, aren't really committed to the line for that reason, and otherwise have to wait the longest (ie. they have the most reason to get off the line). Like if there's multiple queues at the supermarket, I'm always judging the lengths to see which one I should get on that'll be the quickest including after I've already picked a lane. I see a ton of people switching lanes all the time so I assume it's fine to do.

A little bit different if a new lane JUST opened, but yeah I never thought about it as rude.

(But again, this was before I just self-checkout 90% of the time now :fan:)

Well, then you stay at the only till open?

If someone was in front of me in a queue and the till next opened up it would just be easier if I moved over instead of the person in front started backing up out the queue.

Literally didn't realize this was a 'thing'

So what is the point of a queue? obviously if the person has their stuff on the belt they are not going to bother but if there are people standing in front of you with their items still in the basket or trolley then it’s polite to let them move first, as they have been queuing for longer than you?

That’s fine if they do move. Most just stand there

Jessica. 03-02-2019 11:32 AM

I skip the queue at the airport every time. I don't go for newly opened registers though.

Thats not what I am saying though obviously if someone is happy to stay put thats up to them, its when I move and someone queuing behind me rushes in front

Yeah, I had a woman have a go at me about this once when she made no effort to move over to the other till when it opened. And I wasn't even on the tills. :joker:

Literally once had a woman (she seemed like she might’ve had special needs, but I still don’t care) just walk in front of me and dump her basket down (she had loads of stuff and I had a ****ing meal deal and was gonna ask for some fags). Worst part was I was slagging her off under my breath to my friend and she kept shooting me dirty looks :skull:

Greg! 03-02-2019 09:57 PM

Mess I don’t even consider that queue jumping bc it’s not even the same queue. As soon as a new till opens I’m over there asap. If you snooze you loose!
