An awful job for anyone to take on.
She has worked hard at it, at least she makes an effort to carry out the referendum, unlike many others.

I wholeheartedly agree with this smudgie, who would really want her job ? I feel sorry for her as anything she puts on the table the MPs block it and simply because THEY want to remain and don't care that the majority of the public want to leave, they should honour that,no one else would have kept trying like her, bet she can't wait to get out of it.

Honestly can you imagine it being Gove :umm2:.

The UK is already a global laughing stock because of Brexit, reputation in the gutter, piss weak negotiating position, and then we're like "Oh BTW here's our new leader"

It wouldn't bother me any more than a Christian PM bothers me, so long as their beliefs didn't impact on their leadership; but being entirely honest I prefer political leaders to be completely non-religious because...

:umm2:

...I find religious mindsets to be completely devoid of logic so I would be frequently concerned about their decision making in other areas.

Good riddance to her.
For me she shouldn't be an MP never mind PM.

She's made bad judgement after bad judgement and really was never up to the job.

She never had to do it, or stay doing so.
She could have gone anytime and should have after she threw away, after truly disastrous judgement, holding an election where her overall majority was lost.

I do guess the Conservative Party will choose some hardliner again to lead it.

However, I would like to see them choose someone who may improve the party's image, and bring a more caring attitude to the weakest, most vulnerable, sick and disabled.

I'd like to see a leader from the not really expected possible camp, such as Matt Hancock or Rory Stewart.
I think they are two of the finer current Cabinet Ministers.

We often get told, better the devil you know, or be careful what you wish for as to change.
For me, seeing this PM Theresa May gone as PM and likely out of Cabinet too.
Is what I've hoped for since her being appointed Home Secretary in 2010.
Where again she was a disaster all through.

I repeat, for me anyway, good riddance at last to this hopeless Prime Minister.

I keep saying it but I cant help it really..I feel so sorry for May. The job was basically taking the fall for the ****show that is Brexit. I mean, she wanted to remain too so shes in a really difficult position. Everyone is blaming her when CAMERON is the one to blame. Mind I do think shes a weak PM. She had to do this, so she could be blamed when it all goes wrong, and then the new leader can say they didn't think ti was right etc. and then..it will be forgotten and May will go down as one of the worst PMs ever.

She knew though Vicky, they all knew, the only reason she got the job is because everyone else was avoiding it like the plague because it would only ever go one way. In full knowledge of that she decided she wanted a shot at it anyway. She didn't have to.

I think she has to harbour a lot of the responsibility for the deadlock we’ve reached to be fair.

She called an election that she promised she never would, in a disgraceful and deliberate attempt to wipe the opposition off the electoral map for a generation and effectively set up a quasi one-party state. This, whilst pretending it was to “get a bigger mandate to deliver on Brexit”, rather ironically squandered the existing parliamentary mandate she already had, and that’s why we’re in this position.

Yeah I know that, still feel sorry for her though. Even after the election I felt sorry for her, despite KNOWING she only did it thinking she would wipe the floor with Labour. So really, I should have been laughing at the arrogant twat who did the totasl wrong thing

I don't feel sorry for her at all.

1/though a remainer she sat out the ref campaign, unwilling to stand up for her views
2/instead of making brexit cross-party issue she bowed to a group of tory hardliners in setting out her red lines on which she based her negotations
and now she's surprised parliament doesnt' support her deal and
3/called art 50 too early
4/should have allowed parliament to form consensus before negotiations not after
5/stupid elections
6/throughout she always put party politics before the country while claiming otherwise
7/no skillset for the job so cleary lack in judgement; inflexible, unimaginative, unable to empathize,
8/landed us in this mess

Vicky. 29-03-2019 08:27 AM

Yes, the triggering article 50 with no plan was as ****ing stupid as calling the referendum with no plan for if the vote was leave. Cameron did this out of arrogance I think, thinking he KNEW the result would be stay as thats what he wanted so why make continguency plans..and I think May did it more out of pressure from leavers about 'do something!' trying to rush along the process.

Honestly, the only thing I think CAN be done now is to revoke article 50 until a later stage, when everythings worked out. This does not mean we have to stay, before leavers start kicking off. Just means that..well..we don't crash out totally unprepared. Which would be disastrous really.

Actually when Cameron was PM he DID get the Blame ,and I think many laughed when he stood down as he caused this mess .

May is now making a mess of things so of course she's getting blamed, and when she was home secretary she made bad choices. Everything with Brexit is a joke and I'm bored of hearing about it on the news , and nobody seems to have a Clue what they're doing  .

Twosugars 29-03-2019 02:35 PM

As per leadership campaign tradition, Tories start knifing each other in the back.

Quote:

The Conservative peer Sayeeda Warsi has said she is fearful of the idea of Michael Gove becoming prime minister, saying she and other senior members of the party are concerned about his views on British Muslims.
That should do the trick and sink Gove.
