Yeah. 7 and 8 are the only subpar seasons but they're worth powering through for how good season 9 is.

Season two's terrible. Really, really boring hiding in that barn. I didnt get it. :conf:

The first 3 seasons are amazing television.

It declines steadily after that but is still enjoyable enough. It’s not woeful.

This last season has been good (so I’ve heard anyway I only watch ‘big’ epsiodes now).

Season 3 was a massive step up from the love triangle obsessed first two seasons imo.

Honestly GOOD character development went out of the window somewhere around the end of S4 - only to make a dramatic return in S9. A bizarre comeback story. There are characters who got more development in S9 than they had for 5 years (I'm looking at you Daryl) and characters that have now been developed having had close to ZERO development since they joined the show (Ezekiel...).

It has a new showrunner and it goes to show what a difference it can make. Another example of this is Morgan becoming a 10x better character in half a season of Fear The Walking Dead than he did in his entire time as a full time TWD cast member . But FTWD has always had stronger characters. Except bloody Chris and (imo) Travis

Spoiler:

But thankfully they solved that little problem :hehe:

But yeah... honestly, if FTWD S4 and TWD S9 are anything to go by then the shows are on a great trajectory currently. But the first season and a half of FTWD and seasons 6-8 of TWD might be hard to get through. I actually quit Fear for years (early S2) and picked it up & binged right up to the end of S4 and very glad I did because S4 itself is a great season of telly .

What show doesn't have bad seasons though? Even Game Of Thrones has the - in my opinion - borderline embarrassing S5.

The last couple of episodes are great

I am intrigued how this show's premise has been spun out for so long.

But then the longer it runs, the harder it is to catch up.

JerseyWins 10-04-2019 11:26 PM

It's a really good show I just got bored of it (stopped after the first half of season 7)

Although I think it's a show that people get tired of pretty easily after a while - just because I feel like the theme could get tiresome and repetitive. I say this because someone told me about the show and then I was the one to get all my friends into it but all except for one of my friends have given up on the show by now (pretty much all before I gave up on it for that matter). I binged it around the time S3-S4 was airing and everyone else did the same. After that it kinda slowly declined and the interest died down for everyone I know that liked the show (again, besides one).

He did tell me S9 is getting good though so since others are saying that in here as well then maybe it's made a turn for the best? I'm not far behind to the point where I can't realistically catch back up tbh.

Marsh. 10-04-2019 11:27 PM

A lot of people seem to drop away, is the show repetitive?

Yup pretty much this I think

And I can't even really blame the producers either... like it's a show about a zombie apocalypse that has been around for 9 seasons now. You can only go so many ways with it :joker:

Marsh. 10-04-2019 11:30 PM

It's why I'm baffled they've managed a spin-off series and now a spin-off movie franchise too. Like, have they not emptied the well of ideas?
