Take Jeremy and Trump out of the equation, and do you really think most people give a crap about upsetting the American people?

I don't know, because people are different, I know that if our head of state (the Queen) was snubbed by Hilary Clinton, and protested by the American people, I'd find it insulting to our state.

That's fair enough, no one can tell you how to feel. Wouldn't bother me at all, even if it was Trump.

Have to agree with you here Chuff , why are people so blinded to the awful leaders we have welcomed here before ,far worse than Trump , people really need to think especially when they are protesting against him , I don't think it's a good idea for the US to see how petty some of us can be.he maybe unlikable to us but we really need to stop with the tantrums take it with grace he wont be here that long.

I agree,I find it quite embarrassing, lets have some dignity for once.

Except, as they're different people, that wouldn't happen.

If the Queen was anything like Trump we'd probably see it exactly for what it is. The American people probably do too.

Doesn't matter, they're both Heads of State, we're not insulting Trump, we're insulting USA the state.

Show me all the offended Americans.

You couldn't possibly be getting offended on their behalf just out of a dislike of Corbyn anyway?

Surely not?

Trump may not even be there in a couple of years time.

The overtures to the present government from Trump and the other politicians in the USA seem to be developing conditions that haven't been acceptable to the UK before.

Corbyn has always said he'll deal and meet with Trump on a business level.
That's fine by me.

Hopefully however Trump is gone in a couple of years from office.
That could change most things for the better.

In theory it could even strengthen the position with a future Trump-skeptical president, gaining some respect for not flopping at Trump's feet for the hope of a trade deal. However... I have a horrible feeling that Trump will get a full 8 years :worry:.

joeysteele 27-04-2019 01:27 PM

Is any other Party leader going to this State banquet for Trump other than Theresa May.

This State banquet is not about D Day.
There likely wouldn't be a State banquet if Trump wasn't here.

I have no respect for Trump and don't believe he warrants it either in my view.
Any political Leader refusing an invite to be at this banquet 'for him, does however gain my respect.

Northern Monkey 27-04-2019 01:32 PM

Well.

Trump’s not a Commie like Xi Jinping. They wouldn’t have much to talk about.

Alf 27-04-2019 01:37 PM

This is all because Hillary lost. That's the core.

Yes Alf, Trump is president "because Hillary lost". Sure. Believe that and you'll believe anything .

No we aren't at all sorry.

Just as here in our electoral system more Americans voted against Trump than for him.
However their system gave him the Presidency.

I have family and friends in the USA and have nothing against the American people whatsoever.

I don't have to like their leaders however.
I don't even like our own UK current Party leaders, except for Caroline Lucas,( I know she isn't now Party leader but still ought to be I think), and Nicola Sturgeon.

Doesn't mean in any shape or form, I'm insulting any of the citizens of the 4 nations of the United Kingdom.
Because I haven't an ounce of respect for Trump doesn't either mean I'm insulting any other American other than him.

Frankly if he felt insulted by me for any reason, for me that would be a job well done on my part.

It seems like the only tears are coming from the Trump fans that are tearing their hair out over this tbh.

It was an alcoholic beverage, otherwise no one would have given a toss. She breaks the rules. Like when she told everyone their kids had to go to state schools because it was the right thing.... then sent her own kid to private school.

Corbyn and Abbott lead the shadow cabinet. Don't you think people are going to be a tiny bit interested in what they do? Corbyn has sat down with all kinds of odious, murderous terrorists... but he draws the line at Trump?

I approve of stories like this because it reminds real Labour voters what is happening.

Yeah, even a tiny bit. Or would you like the story buried? Because we don't bury stories for the Tories when they're being ridiculous.
