There would be nowhere near enough hype or excitement if they were to bring in a collection of relatively unknown actors to take over one of the biggest movie franchises.

I'm fine with them getting individual stories first like how Iron Man/Hulk/Captain America/Thor etc all did before the avengers - but I wouldn't want another 'Avengers' film as such until these characters are already established well.

Yeah I get your point but some of the characters I think marvel are bringing in new avengers films with newer characters some will have their own films first then they will join avengers later in terms of the young avengers it could happen if it did then the characters from previous films will still appear

also people like the lesser known heroes the ones that none marvel fans know about to for example the guardians of the galaxy they weren’t heard of much until the films began now they are huge so I do think it could work plus also I think it would depend on who gets casted as the superheroes to

Plus superheroes like Antman , Black Panther And Doctor Strange were not well known characters until their films now they are really popular

So I do genuinely think they are doing more avengers films in the next few years it will just be a new line up that’s all which I think would attract the fans who read the comics and could potentially attract a newer audience I’m not saying it will be as big as endgame but it will still be successful it will just depend on casting

It's not so much the characters as the actors playing them, though, that makes me think it's more likely to be streaming series than high-budget Hollywood. Like yes, GOTG was a more obscure franchise, but then you look at the first page of the cast list;

Chris Pratt
Zoe Saldana
Dave Bautista
Vin Diesel
Bradley Cooper
Lee Pace
Michael Rooker
Karen Gillan
Djimon Hounsou
John C. Reilly
Glenn Close
Benicio Del Toro

Packed with household names.

Likewise Doctor Strange; people might not have known the character but Bempydonk Crumplenickle was a household name and you had names like Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen and Rachel McAdams to pad it out.

I suppose they might be lining them up as replacement "secondary avengers" to replace people like Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision... even Hawkeye... but I can't see any of them getting solo movies and thus they won't be the "main ensemble" Avengers.

Hollywood star-power isn't what it was. Box-office success now is mostly about the franchise and having a recognisable IP, rather than big names.

You look at the other films the MCU stars have done since it started... Robert Downey Jr had Sherlock Holmes and Scarlett Johansson in 2014's Lucy are the only real hits. Chris Pratt had the Jurassic World films but people are going to that for the dinosaurs.

Couldn't the sneak them in with some sort of Multiverse tomfoolery?

I loved the 90s X-Men tv show. That, 90s Batman and Spider-Man were my life as a kid.

I don't know - it could be rights issue, and I'd guess Marvel Studios would want to do their own thing instead of having to consider the previous movies.

IMO the MOST likely scenario for X-men (now that the Spider-man trailer has confirmed Multiverse travel) is that the main series occurs in a separate part of the multiverse, with them hopping over into the Avengers MCU (or vice versa) for team-ups and crossovers. Whether or not that means they keep any of the existing franchise, who knows.

Oliver_W 26-06-2019 05:49 PM

In the comics, there's a young female who follows in the steps of Tony Stark, called Iron Heart. Maybe his daughter could fill that role :D She did try on Gwyneth's helmet. Or maybe Gwyneth could play the role :D she's not exactly young, but it'd be an interesting path for her character to follow.

Morgan. 26-06-2019 05:54 PM

Well I think they had revealed Katherine Langford had filmed scenes as Tony’s daughter (an older incarnation), that were cut last minute. Maybe they’re saving those scenes for her to play Iron Heart?

Oliver_W 26-06-2019 05:55 PM

Oh I hadn't heard that before, that'd be cool :D

I heard they cut them because test audiences didn't like them / were confused that this new version of the daughter suddenly appeared at the end... It wa also decided that his final scene should be with Pepper for continuity (as she's been a major feature of his life throughout the MCU, whereas the daughter is brand new in Endgame).

But yeah a "young avengers" of some description does seem likely, especially with them "aging up" Scott Lang's daughter, and the focus on Hawkeye's daughter learning to use a bow.

Also because Spider-man was "snapped" for the 5 year time jump, he's still a similar age to those characters (mid/late teens) so would likely be involved.

Theyd have to do some time / alternative reality shenanigans to age up Tony's daughter, though... As she's still just a kid in the main timeline

Yeah but I doubt they will use iron heart in the film I think they will use Harley Keener as IronLad from iron man 3 and he also appeared in endgames funeral scene so I can definitely see him being IronLad I think Morgan stark will become iron heart maybe in a later film

Marvel Making a Return to Hall H for San Diego Comic-Con 2019
by Vinnie Mancuso June 18, 2019

After taking a break for exactly one (1) year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will make its return to San Diego Comic-Con‘s Hall H panel in 2019, according to Deadline. This is actually some intriguing news, considering that A) Fellow comic book movie-makin’ studio Warner Bros. has decided to skip the main stage festivities this year, and B) We pretty much don’t know a single concrete thing about Disney’s MCU plans following this month’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.

So what are we most likely to see? An official slate, for one, which would probably give us an idea of the studio’s plans well into the future. As for actual footage, director Cate Shortland‘s standalone Black Widow movie is the most realistic option, considering its the only MCU film rumored to be in production right now. An appearance from Shortland and Scarlett Johannson, maybe even David Harbour, plus a logo reveal is your safest bet.

Coming hot down the pipeline, you also have The Eternals, which seems to sprout a new casting rumor every day, as well as Destin Daniel Cretton‘s Shang-Chi and Scott Derrickson‘s Doctor Strange sequel. There’s also the Disney+ live-action series to consider—we already know first looks at the Loki standalone series starring Tom Hiddleston have started to sneak their way to the public—but it almost seems more likely that those shows would be saved for Disney’s D23 Expo a month after Comic-Con. Although, this year’s D23 is probably going to be mighty Star Wars heavy…

The last time the MCU rolled into San Diego, back in 2017, the audience in Hall H got a first look at Avengers: Infinity War—how young and un-scarred we all were—as well as a live appearance from stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Sebastian Stan, and Anthony Mackie.

Comic Con: Marvel reveals Blade, Shang Chi and female Thor
By Rozina Sini at Comic Con, San Diego
BBC News

Marvel has announced a bumper crop of 10 new superhero movies at Comic Con.

Marvel studios president Kevin Feige, flanked by dozens of Hollywood stars, revealed the post-Avengers roster of films to a stunned hall in San Diego.

Many attendees at world's largest pop-culture fan convention had camped out to reserve a seat for the event.

One major surprise was the announcement of Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as Blade the vampire hunter, a role played by Wesley Snipes in the 1998 film.

There was rapturous applause and screams as Ali took to the stage to reveal he would take on the role of the day walker.

Natalie Portman will play a female Thor

Natalie Portman confirmed her return to a fourth Thor film - Thor: Love and Thunder - reprising her role as Jane Foster, but this time wielding the power of the Thor hammer.

"Feels pretty good. I've always had a little hammer envy," Portman told the delighted crowd after being handed the hammer by director Taika Watiti.

Portman's role is based on Jason Aaron's comic book series that sees Jane Foster become the mighty lady Thor when Thor Odison finds himself unworthy of picking up the hammer.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also return for the film.

Earlier the audience were teased with number of new productions and sequels from phase four of the Marvel cinematic universe.

The first film to be announced was The Eternals. The cast includes Angelina Jolie, and Salma Hayek appeared on stage in front of the excited audience to talk about their new roles.

Jolie, who will play Thena, told the crowd: "I'm going to work ten times harder because I think what it means to be a part of the MCU, what it means to be an Eternal, to be part of this family. I know what we all need to do."

"We've all read the script, we all know what the task ahead is and we know what you deserve so we are all going to be working very very hard," she added.

The Eternals are powerful beings who look human but have special powers. The film has a release date of November 2020.
Shang-Chi

The first Asian American super hero film Shang-Chi was also announced, and we now know who will play the lead role. After months of castings Kevin Feige announced Canadian actor Simu Liu had been confirmed to play the Kung-Fu master only a few days ago.

Shang-Chi who was born to a Chinese father and an American mother, first appeared in the Marvel comics almost 50 years ago.

Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings will also star Crazy Rich Asians actress Awkwafina.

After months of speculation, Marvel finally confirmed the first details of the eagerly anticipated Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff.

The film has been in production for 30 days with a teaser trailer showing early scenes in Budapest.

Johansson told the panel: "I get to play Natasha as a fully realised woman, in all of her many facets."

A number of Marvel series were also announced which would be available on the new Disney+ streaming service including Loki and Hawkeye.

Feige ended the panel by telling a cheering audience that he did not have time to talk about a host of other films.

"We didn't mention that we're making Black Panther 2, we didn't mention the fact that Guardian of the Galaxies 3 is coming.

"We didn't have time to talk about Captain Marvel 2, and I didn't have time to talk about the Fantastic 4 and there's no time to talk about Mutants," he told a delighted crowd.

Most excited for Black Widow and Wanda

Ramsay 21-07-2019 10:39 AM

What If :clap1:

Oliver_W 21-07-2019 10:44 AM

Black Widow - cool.
Eternals - don't know much about them, with comics I don't like Marvel, it's all about DC. I'll probably see it though, as I like Angelina Jolie and Selma Hayek.
Falcon - cool.
Shang Chi - whatever.
Wanda - cool.
Loki - cool.
Doctor Strange - whatever.
What If - don't know what that is.
Hawkeye - cool.
Thor - nah. Thor is a name, not a title. Falcon becoming Captain America is fine but Thor is the dude's name.
Blade - cool, but I bet Wesley would still be able to do it!
Guardians of the Galaxy - best news of all!
Captain Marvel - nah.
Black Panther - I can't really remember the first movie but his character's cool in the team up movies.

LukeB 21-07-2019 10:52 AM

Any news on Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2 and Spider-Man looking forward to those as well
