I think a gender balance in Boxing is a must.

You've not actually made a point, apart from "we needs more representation"

Let's assume I misunderstand it, go ahead and reiterate :)

Actually here you go, Alf perfectly illustrates what women are up against when they try to get a foot in the door but pretend that sort of sexist bias doesn't exist if you like

Katie Taylor is leading the way for that

ITV isnt really known for its comedy so I'm surprised they have USA type 'teams'. The best comedies this country has produced usually have writers who are familiar with each other and not random comedy writers hired for the job.

This is to be encouraged if the comedy is becoming too laddish. Female writers are sadly underused in comedy.

Twosugars 18-06-2019 04:05 PM

Great idea, long overdue

Liam- 18-06-2019 04:06 PM

I think the last original comedy thing they put out was Plebs wasn’t it? That was ****ing dire so if someone could put a stop that it would have been lovely

Alf 18-06-2019 04:07 PM

Caroline Aherne was a woman and a comedy genius, as was Victoria Wood.

No sexist man could admit to that.

I don't want French and Saunders to be forced to write with men. Do you?

That's separate to my point though. I wasn't saying women don't face problems when it comes to comedy. I was saying the only things that should be considered are comedic value and profitability.

Opening doors should be a happy coincidence, not an aim.

But you said "all that's needed" and that isn't accurate because what's also needed is to be allowed a seat at the table so you can have a voice to fulfil the other requirements ie. being funny and making money

Nope, not needed. Comedy shows have no obligation to provide seat and voices for anyone.

again spoken like a man..........

Men have been writing bad comedy for decades, let women have a go, it might even improve

What does my gender have to do with anything? You don't see anyone saying "spoken like a woman" when you're calling for women to be included for the sake of representation.

I would have no problem with you saying "spoken like a woman" to me. Infact absolutely 100% I'm speaking like a woman on this because clearly alot of men (not you BOTS ;) ) don't understand what it feels like to be at an automatic disadvantage on alot of things like this

Liam- 18-06-2019 04:26 PM

Some men do unfortunately feel like the only place for a woman in Comedy is to have their bras randomly pop off or to play the sexy secretary that the boss gropes for a laugh, it’s sad

Mystic Mock 18-06-2019 04:28 PM

Gender balance in Comedy writing teams can only be a good thing because it means more different types of humour possibly being represented in Comedies.

Sure. That sucks. But comedy shows don't need to address this. They need to be funny and profitable. Enforced quotas aren't going to improve anything.

No, it’s sadly true, you see a lot of it online these days, it seems hip in certain circles to look down on women, nice attempt yourself though ;)

Women are the most privileged sex in the Western World, by far.

Literally no-one here expressed such views, so you were addressing no-one x

I didn’t say anyone here had expressed those views? Bit paranoid there, unless stated otherwise, always assume I’m not referencing anyone personally
