When you look at past political statements through music - 80s punk in general, Sunday Bloody Sunday, God Save The Queen, American Idiot - some rapper you can't understand half the time throwing around f-bombs isn't exactly groundbreaking :p

There are some questionable comment in this thread

He also told Boris Johnson to “suck his mum” :joker:

Why was he bitching about Johnson in the firsy place? He was standing there in a stab vest, so why not address knife crime? Go after the Home Sec, go after the Mayor.

It's okay when he's talking, but like a lot of rapping, it's just noise. |

It isn't run by the government, it's funded through taxpayer money just like how C4 and other channels receive tax money (althought BBC has more funds from tax than most). This isn't Russia or NK in which media is owned by the government. Also, if Stormzy is big enough to headline Glastonbury, he certainly doesn't need to beg to appear on Graham Norton, something else which you've gotten wrong as chat shows tend to compete for guests to appear on them. More high profile guests will tend to appear on Graham Nortion because it has a bigger share of the audience than Jonathan Ross' show but someone like Stormzy doesn't need to appear on either tbh. A lot of people who buy his music wouldn't likely be watching late night chat shows since that's aimed at an older audience. You should try to filter your outrage into something that makes more sense. |

You are unfortunately correct.:wavey: But he chose his audience well this time. |

It’s nothing new or shocking.Bands have been making gimmicky political statements on stage for decades.
He knows he can get away with it with the type of fans he attracts. If it was a performer with a more politically diverse audience they wouldn’t dream of it for fear of alienating their fans. |
