Yes I have done this as well. Great fun.

We used to play on building sites, made see saws out of barrels and a plank, we also used a matress to sled down the stairs, and swung from high branches in the woods and swam in the lake.loved my childhood.

We did build a tree swing on a hill that at its peak (you started on the hill and swung outwards) must have been 40ft off the ground. And the seat was a pretty flimsy branch. And two of us would jump on at once.

A severe spinal injury waiting to happen tbh.

user104658 29-07-2019 04:09 PM

Oh also one of my friends found a drainage pipe on a river that ran under a road and concocted a plan to crawl through it on his hands and knees... Not knowing that half way along it was grated off. At the last minute some other kid in dramatic fashion was like "We should put a rope round your leg just in case!" thinking it was all just a fun role play game but we actually ended up dragging him out as he couldn't turn round and panicked. He could PROBABLY have wriggled out backwards eventually but still. Horrifying, hahaha.

Though I blame whoever designed that pipe blocked off half way but NOT at the ends for that one. A deliberate child trap if anything.

Went swimming up the 'blue lagoon' which wasn't a lagoon at all and never was, it was in reality an old quarry reservoir and had shopping trolleys, old burnt out cars and all sorts in it, and that's not even the worse things I've mentioned

Climbing up on the school roofs to play 'One after them aw'

Then teenaged years...

Drinking copious amounts of alcohol down the glen or park or wherever we could every weekend, having my stomach pumped due to alcohol poisoning, taking acid, eckies, speed you name it (So ****ing stupid really)

Telling our parents we were staying over with each other then doing all nighters dossing about the streets, stealing the milk and rolls in the mornings

Not really sure how we made it out of our teenage years alive tbqh

Being in possession of one of these.

Remember that feeling of panic when you winded yourself...

We use to go to this haunted place in a feild where a witch was meant to have been held and use to try get in the barricades.

We also loved chasing cows around the feild

I and at least 3 other adults maintain they are the reigning dyers court Kerby champion..

We still have a match at new year if we are all home at our parents at the same time.

Anyone else lick a rose thorn and stick it on your nose pretending you were a rhinosorous.

Beso 29-07-2019 06:55 PM

Pc Purcell. ..

My mate Michaels dad when I was at school.

One of the local bobbies when I was 12-18..

I must have been 16 when me and 2 mates ware walking down the road..saw him in his car with no indicator flashing so we crossed the road he shouldn't have been turning in...he turned though and screeched to a halt..trying to scare us probably....his mate in the dog unit van went right into the back of him...tried to blame us so they did....

That was enough for my old man....I don't think the welts were of my legs when no more action was taken.

But I don't think that's as dangerous now so not sure why I mentioned it

Lol yes.....I was actually talking about this the other day....the person I was talking to looked at me like I was mad.

Knock a door run and kick ball hide were great games too.....made more exciting by the fact that if caught, the possibility of getting a smack was real.

We used to call this knock down ginger

This one wasn’t really dangerous but we used to go into a supermarket or a big store and say “we’ve lost one of our friends somewhere and he has no phone can you announce his name on the tannoy” then we’d give a rude name like

Dan Gleball
Phil Mercrack
Chris Peacock

We found it so funny at the time when they would announce it

Chris Moyles does this, they try and get people get mentions on other radio shows with names like that.

We had so many names at one point I’m sure they are probably similar.

This thread got me thinking of all the stupid stuff we did. Memories

Tell us some more. :hee:

Dogeatdog 29-07-2019 07:51 PM

Again not really dangerous but we used to do something called ‘duck outs’

Basically we’d be on the bus (it had to be a double decker and sitting at the top) and before it got to the last stop (like a few before), we would each duck behind a seat and see if the driver wouldn't notice that we was still on.

Alot of time they didn’t notice but once the driver actually started driving back to the depot and we stayed on just giggling away. His face was priceless when he eventually caught us.

Knock door run. ...or sometimes "bugger the cat"

We always picked on a guy called tow, and his wife anne. .

They lived in a matchbox house ( look it up)..but us evil little ****'s lived at the top of the grassy hill from his house...a grassy hill with bushes, but most importantly a double bump..like it went steeply down..then levelled out for a footpath then went very steeply down..
We used to have great fun going down that on our trays...yes trays...down a double bump 25 metre drop and about 100mtrs long..with a massive bump in the middle of it... ¥the windy path was the name of the path that snaked up it ..

But yeah we used trays...so much that we were landing and taking of from solid ice some winters...you were lucky if the little tennents beer tray that Andrews dad the tennents lager salesman had given us was still under your 14 yr old arse when you landed after flying like a poor little unlucky chuahua.....I forgot if it got so ice down at the bottom...you ended up splattered a five foot drop between the end of the hill and a row of garages for the Rd below...tows house was to the far right of these garages on apart if the hill where the bump wasn't to severe....Anyway. ..Knock door run.....he used to give us the best chase as ten yr olds...

We ended up rolling car tyres down the hill at his house as 14 yr olds. ....

I ended up good friends with him in later life.
