It’s an incredible game but I prefer when GTA is set in a definitive past era rather than modern day.

I want 1970’s GTA! :fc:

A lie :hmph:. The "out of vehicle" gameplay is dated if you try to play it now, but we shouldn't forget that even though it's been released on everything, it's actually a late-era PS3 game. It also has a few missions that are frustrating trash... of course, not on the level of San Andreas' ****ing remote controlled plane mission. The overall game and characters are iconic though.

Obviously we already expected this but yeah... from the horse's mouth(ish) :joker:.

Oooh, do tell more?

I keep hearing over and over speculation that GTA6 will be set in two cities - Vice City and one other in South America (possibly Bogota as R* registered it as a GTA trademark back in 2012) with a plot emphasis on drug trafficking and a GTA spin on Escobar and his cartel that ran between Bogota and Miami (or Vice City in this instance), it's just something I keep seeing when researching and I think it stems from the "Project Americas" leak.

Also, they'd be IDIOTS not to take advantage of the title on a branding basis to not have emphasis on Vice City, I mean: "Grand Theft Auto VI"ce City - it's in the name? :hehe:

70's/80's Vice City with the huge potential of the upcoming PS5's graphics sounds incredible. :fc:

Scarlett. 06-03-2020 02:58 AM

I wonder if we will hear something when Sony showcase the PS5?

user104658 06-03-2020 10:16 AM

They'll probably announce it as a PS5 launch title and then it'll come out 10 months after the PS5 :joker:

More hype re: something brewing, I've seen this reported various places online but this pretty much sums it up best on Reddit:

Quote:

GTAForums user "gonnaenodaethat" knows something that we don't know?

Why i believe that he knows something that we don't know.

1. First of all, visiting grandtheftauto6.net which is owned by GrandTheftAuto.net (GTAForums) will redirect you to his profile.

2. He is sending cryptic messages in GTA 6 Speculation thread every day, and he is apperantly from Scotland (think Rockstar North).

3. Third, and most important, is that moderators on GTAForums are allowing him to write these cryptic messages. Moderators on GTAForums are famous for their banning policy, they will ban you for one tiny mistake, they ban fake leakers, trolls and other attention seeking bastards immediately, but this guy even got his post pinned by moderators.

4. 3 weeks before RDR 2 for PC was announced, he started the topic with cryptic messages inside RDR 2 section, and he was pinned by moderators. Also, month before RDR 2 announcement and trailer, he started the "Usher Hall" cryptic topic and nobody stopped him.

So, the main reason that i believe something is happening is the fact that moderators allowed him to do all sorts of things which would be considered trolling if another user made similar posts and topics, and the fact that gta6 net redirects to his account could be some kind of easter egg.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GTA6/commen...ows_something/

We could perhaps be getting at least an official announcement before the month's out if this guy's legit, which looks plausible... If you read through the comments there are links to that forum with certain posts from the mentioned user.

There was also a "leaked screenshot" from said user to another user on the forum of a message reading:

"0320:

".

0320 = 20th March?

Miami(Vice City) and Cuba or other nearby islands pretty much writes itself. Looking like that’s what it would be.

There's big speculation that it will be Vice City AND Bogota, Colombia (or a city based upon there), with the story mimicking Pablo Escobar and his cartel in the 70's/80's.

R* applied for and gained copyright use of the city name "Bogota" (capital of Colombia) back in 2010... They also got New York, London and Paris too though so- :joker:

The "Project Americas" supposed leak from last year is looking more and more legit/plausible as the setting for GTA VI according to other forums.

For anyone unfamiliar, it's this:

Quote:

This GTA 6 leak is no joke. Posted on Reddit, user JackOLantern1982 has posted a lengthy bullet-point list about what is apparently included in the next Grand Theft Auto game, including the fact that it's set across multiple decades, deals with the rise of a drug cartel, and is set partly in Vice City.

- The next GTA title has been in development since 2012, but production didn't begin properly until 2015, but even then the team was focusing more on Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Set in both Vice City and a new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro.
- Some linear missions take place in Liberty City, but it isn't an open world.
- One playable protagonist: male, not female, despite supposed leaks.
- Set in 1970s-1980s.
- You play as an up and coming drug lord-wannabe named "Ricardo". Another key character called “Kacey” is a part of the narrative. You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area before making connections with big time drug lords and making your way up. Multiple cities.
- There will also be a giant prison which will play a part in the game.
- Will feature a 'chapter' system similar to a Tarantino flick or Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Weather is a heavy focus (hurricanes, floods, etc).
- Buildings change over the eras, vehicles too. So older, rare classic cars get more expensive as time progresses etc. Full economy.
- Heavily inspired by Netflix's Narcos.
- Drug empire building is a mechanic similar to Vice City Stories but bigger.
- Last bit of narrative info, it will discuss topics such as HIV and the immigration crisis of the time. A fictional version of Fidel Castro etc.
- Next-gen only, not PS4 or Xbox One
Full details: https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/gta-6-...ject-americas/

Also some other [albeit partly conflicting] "leaks" re: "Project Americas":

Quote:

- The game is set back in Liberty City, modern day.
- The plot in the beginning of the game is reminiscent of The Wire.
- Police officers are trying to crack down a gang/drug ring based around a night club.
- There are four main characters, two police and two gang members.
- The plot then twists and turns and goes to upstate New York, where it becomes more crime noir, think Ozark and Breaking Bad.
- It will have twice the amount of dialogue as GTA 5 and a really crazy plot twist.
- The main storyline splits after a while, the criminal side has sort of a sandbox build-a-crime-empire thing (Fallout 4 meets the Sims), while the police side is more of a traditional action game with a little twist of LA Noire.
- Earliest release is holiday 2021, but I would guess later, 2022 or 2023.

See the phrase "Here we go again..." at the top here? It's just been added in the last day or so it seems...

(Only mods aka "insiders" can change that - this is the site where the cryptic messages have been coming from lately).

Something's brewing...

LaLaLand 25-03-2020 03:24 AM

There may be something announced today (the 25th)...

Speculation of course and take it with a huge pinch of salt but there's a huge buzz online about it. :fc:

Smithy 25-03-2020 08:48 AM

An announcement of an announcement I bet

Scarlett. 25-03-2020 11:32 AM

I hope we do get something, would be nice to have something to take our minds off current events

Scarlett. 25-03-2020 11:40 AM

Oh shi-

They've actually updated the site recently (its only been updated twice before) and the domain actually belongs to TakeTwo

Scarlett. 25-03-2020 01:04 PM

I think the leaker on GTA forums said 3pm would be when we see something (the guy also leaked the RDR and RDR PC reveals)

Smithy 25-03-2020 02:24 PM

GMT or ?

Scarlett. 25-03-2020 02:29 PM

Looks like that was bull**** lol

Scarlett. 25-03-2020 04:03 PM

Hmm, apparently he's now saying he never said what day it would be in March at 3pm, so it could still be revealed before the end of the month

Smithy 16-04-2020 12:16 AM

Apparently the game is only in early development and won’t be as big as expected due to changes at rockstar

One such plan is to allegedly have the next GTA, whether it be called GTA 6 or some other title, be "a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch."
Hmmmm tbh if they go that route I might wait until we'll after release to start. I don't tend to go back to a game I've finished for expansions.

Brother Leon 16-04-2020 03:49 PM

Could work. I liked the GTA IV story DLC and the way this is worded it seems they will be expanding size of the maps too with it.

arista 16-04-2020 06:50 PM

GTA 6 : Vice City
would work

Scarlett. 16-04-2020 08:39 PM

I like the idea of games evolving after release, probably the XIV lover in me
