Even though both are pretty woeful, the 2004 version of The Grudge was slightly better than the original since it presented the story in a slightly more linear fashion when the original did everything out of order to mask the fact that there was no real story there.
You go into a house, you get cursed, you die. It's annoying that, in a lot of ways, The Grudge has a great concept but it's too thin of a concept and they never expanded on it. The Ring/Ringu works better because there's more thought that goes into the curse and you can actually fight against it which inherently makes it more interesting than The Grudge. |
SMG was amazing in The Grudge

I don't think anyone was particularly great in it. I just respected that they didn't overcomplicate the presentation of the story to mask that there wasn't much of one.

I'm just watching the remake of Death Feast right now with the host of Love Island Oz, Sophie Monk. Not a huge fan of the original but thought the idea was pretty inventive.
The remade is very slow and a bit torture porn for my taste. Like all the victims look like they auditioned for babe station and got this instead and all the characters are so dumb its grim |

But I just never felt like the Film ever picked up pace for me, and I do personally believe that Slashers need more gore than other types of Horror imo. There were other issues for me as well, but I'll just leave it at the biggest things for me. |
