Tbh I think Buffy went down hill after the fourth season , I found myself preferring the early seasons and pre Dawn annoying little sister . Riley was a boring character aswell  .

I thought the fifth season was pretty decent, but 6 and 7 can go from really good to meh

I still watched them but I found the dynamics off and the episodes hit and miss .

Spike also never helped the show imo.

Great actor who played him imo, but the writing for his character I swear inspired the backward **** that a lot of us have seen with Negan from TWD.

Negan TWD??? .

I don't know what writers were were thinking with Spike, he was a great strong character. Then the chip in the brain storyline. Him getting a Buffy robot :bored: just got silly.

Then him & real Buffy hooking up was a mess ,and even worse when Anya tried hooking up with him to hurt Zander .
They sort of made him a pathetic character with no use in the end  .

I agree with you on Spike, I liked him in season 2, but every other season afterwards I just remembered thinking "why aren't the heroes just killing this psycho without no redeeming qualities whatsoever" and then they obviously as you've already pointed out, started to give him really bad shipping (which tbf is quite common on TV) but it just was an exasperated issue for me with a very annoying character.

And Negan's from The Walking Dead, he comes in like a psycho and gets redeemed.

At least Riley was better than Angel :eyes:

S4 was when the show began to actually get some semblance of a storyline through the whole season

5 was amazing, the dawn thing was so cleverly done and Glory :flutter:

Angel was the original Jon Snow/Daryl Dixon, imo male characters with next to no personality but were bizarrely popular with the fans of their respective shows.

I thought that I was the only one that holds a negative opinion of Angel, and I probably still am the only person that holds a negative view on Daryl.:joker:

I do think that I liked the first 3 seasons the most for actually having Horror undertones in a Vampire Show, because that was something that was particularly lost in the last 2 or 3 seasons imo.

I didn't mind Angel ,but they did mess about with his character.

Dawn was annoying , yes I got into the storyline but in the end it just felt forced . They should of ended it after Buffy sacrifices herself.

Bringing her back to life was an anti climax.

With exception to the musical episode ,that was actually good.

Smithy 13-02-2020 10:07 AM

Yeah 5 was a great ending, they didn’t need to bring it back after that

Wizard. 13-02-2020 10:29 AM

Seasons 3 and 5  I like S1 because well it's the first season and season 4, not for the awful Initiative or possibly the worst villain with Adam but it brought us Tara and Anya and we get witchy willow.

user104658 13-02-2020 11:46 AM

3 > 2 > 1 > 7 > 5 > 4 > 6

Bonus round for Angel :hee: = 3 > 1 > 2 > 5 > 4

Season 4 of both shows were trash  but that's not uncommon even for long-running shows. 3-season arcs flow quite well unless and you have a longer term plan, season 4 is an awkward "transition" season while a direction is found.

That said, S4 Buffy has some standout episodes that are in the top 10 overall episodes. Which is odd as the overall season is so poor. Angel S4 has few redeeming features sadly.

AS FOR THE REBOOT...

We do not want it unless it is a soft reboot that acknowledges the events of OG Buffy as canonical. I'd also like some cameo episodes plz. A Buffy, Angel, Giles or Willow would be great but I'd even accept a Spike, Anya, Wesley or even an Andrew. We can't have a Xander, sadly. Poor Xander went to a very dark place post-Buff :umm2:.

Not here for a full reboot. I sat through 20 minutes of the Roswell reboot and I feel ****ing ill even thinking about them doing that to Buffy. TRASH. :bawling:

[edit]I lied, I said Angel S4 had no redeeming features but I forgot that the Faith vs Angelus episodes were S4 and they were top tier Angel so...

GoldHeart 13-02-2020 12:27 PM

What is the fascination with reboots, they just feel like cheap cash grabs.

Will I give this Buffy reboot a chance hmm not sure .

But the reboot of Sabrina The teenage witch looked pitiful  .

Tbf that wasn't a reboot. It was an adaptation of the source material. Nothing to do with the sitcom.

Tom4784 13-02-2020 02:24 PM

If anything, Sabrina in the 90's was a reboot of the 70's version since they had a similar tone. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has nothing to do with the previous TV shows because it adapts the comics of the same name.

Fair enough it's a different style and darker but didn't interest me .
