Bacteria is everywhere, not everything will harm you . But you have to just be as clean & hygienic as you can, no need to be obsessive over it.

The virus is spread by breath and by touch - i feel this advice is just to make us think we are doing something but logically its bollocks and about as useless as a mask:shrug:

Extra hygiene and more hand washing is surely going to help somewhat though. If everyone is washing their hands more, it may be less likely to be passed on to those harder surfaces as much

There is a stench in this thread

Still better than people just wetting their hands for a split second. D:

so one imagines that you have to then disinfect taps after you wash?

and car doors, front door handles, bathroom door handle?

this all after you have washed your hands as the virus can stay on hard surfaces for 5 days

Wash your hands, dry them with a disposable towel, clean the tap with the towel and throw the towel in the bin.

It will to a degree but with the amount of times we touch our faces (4 per minute) and the fact a lot of infection will be airborne its going to be minimal and i guess the same as getting actual flu.

I get all my illnesses from the children as most parents do

Crimson Dynamo 02-03-2020 03:42 PM

Good man James or a lot of public toilets have automatic taps that come on when you put your hands under

Nothing says "happy birthday!" quite like the threat of contagious lung disease

Crimson Dynamo 02-03-2020 03:48 PM

Ring a ring of roses would have been far more apt

On the plus side if you have a company producing anti bac hand gel you are quids in and they wanted less people in Venice to protect the aging city and boy have they got it, so good for the planet, less flying, plus apparently China is not producing as much tut, though that myth was debunked today by the man who invented the Trunkie who said his orders from China were being fulfilled faster than before... me thinks China wants the Eurozone in recession :nono:

Crimson Dynamo 02-03-2020 03:56 PM

I think that airplanes, underground trains or any offices with recirculated air are the worst places to be in terms of getting it

Try not and touch your mouth, nose or eyes. Also wash hands when getting home, and change clothes that have come in to contact with outside surfaces like chairs other people might have sat on.

and if you have children its not going to happen

Cherie 02-03-2020 04:05 PM

We can all wash our hands but you are relying on others to do the same, will the people who stacked the baked beans have washed their hands, and between till staff wiping their noses with the backs of their hand or licking their fingers to get a bag open, we are doomed

and what about your mobile?

bots 02-03-2020 04:55 PM

we don't know how this will go, it's early days yet. The virus could mutate into a dozen more deadly strains for all we know. While washing your hands may reduce your chances of catching a virus, it's not the main issue. Someone sneezing in your proximity is a far more likely cause
