Thing is, I totally get it if all of this really is just temporary (until we get health services bolstered to handle it as an ongoing disease), but I just don't really see how it can be "just a few weeks" or "just a few months"... and so, I am conflicted. It feels a bit like in exchange for the best chance at staying alive, we all have to give up living, and so what is the point? The ironic part being, the people I see mostly agreeing with that attitude are the over-70's that all of the isolation is designed to protect. We can't isolate forever. Even right now this is a totally untested phenomenon - we have absolutely no idea what the damage of essentially suspending society for months is going to be. I think it's going to be an absolute disaster if I'm being entirely honest. I currently feel VERY, VERY privileged that I can work 100% from home, and that more than 50% of my wife's income is freelancing from home as well.

I was out tonight and everything seemed normal. Plenty of people out and about.

For someone who has ties to Italy, surely you understand the importance of locking down and self isolating before things get to that point :worry: |

Screaming, sorry Vanessa, I didn’t mean for it to seem like I was coming for you, I just meant a lot of people clearly don’t think about the bigger picture

We’re just run by literal boomers who don’t know what they’re doing so it’s best just to avoid their advice and use common sense instead |

It's debatable really... because supermarkets will have to stay open I don't really think that everything else should be avoided as well because... that's just going to run into even more problems in the long-run. |

A friend of mine who is a bar manager in London made the point that advising people not to go bars while not ordering the shut down of bars is going to put them out of business with no social welfare support

I think at this point it is the right decision, but it could've been easily avoided imo. |
