Apparently only 3 teams want to avoid the premier league 2 of who are Man City and Sheffield Utd which doesnt make sense if they want european football? At least 70 percent of clubs have to agree to axe in while the majority of clubs are desperate to end the season with many ideas being mooted including one to finish the season in China

bots 03-04-2020 10:20 AM

if the premier league teams jet off to some unaffected location to finish the league while people are dying at home, it won't go down well

Many teams may not be around by the time the league is resumed either which is going to make finishing this season impossible

and China of all places  the suggestions get more farcical by the day

The easiest solution is to give Liverpool the title, and promote the top two teams of the Championship and have a 22 team next season.

It upsets nobody that way as both outcomes were gonna happen anyway when you look at the gap in both tables.

They need to promote Coventry to the championship too as they deserve it and need the cash

Simulate the rest of the season via FIFA.

I wouldn't mind that personally.

It does get a bit more trickier on what to do with the relegation places in the EFL Leagues though? As I doubt that anyone is gonna wanna have a 26 team Championship season.

From what I seen suggested it means extra relagations the next season

I think this is the way to go, although then the clubs who would have been in the playoffs will complain, there is no easy answer

I agree with you that it would be unfortunate for the teams in the playoffs (especially Fulham who were in third place) but I personally can't think of a way to help those teams out sadly.

Hopefully the FA/FIFA/EFL can come up with the solution to that particular issue.

An expert here says he doesn't think mass gatherings like sporting events and music concerts will come back until the second half of next year. :o

I think a lot of clubs will go out of business if they can't sell tickets. The only thing I think they could do would be to play behind closed doors and have the Premier League clubs share out the TV and sponsorship money with lower league and non-league clubs, who would be harder hit with no crowds. But it might still not be enough.

Quote:

.....In a recent roundtable discussion, hosted and transcribed by the New York Times, bioethicist and professor of healthcare management Zeke Emanuel says he has “no idea” how promoters that are rescheduling arts and music events for later this year “think that’s a plausible possibility”. Read the full video conference transcript here.

“Larger gatherings – conferences, concerts, sporting events – when people say they’re going to reschedule this conference or graduation event for October 2020, I have no idea how they think that’s a plausible possibility. I think those things will be the last to return,” Emmanuel said in the video conference.

“Realistically we’re talking fall 2021 at the earliest.”.....

that makes sense, it's going to need europe wide management of the virus or it will all just flair up again and they will need a 6 month window of next to zero infections before allowing mass attendance cross europe events

Closed door tv only events may be the only way forward, and sky and bt would love that

AnnieK 13-04-2020 07:05 PM

I had 3 gigs cancelled and they have all been rescheduled for late August / early September. Can't see them happening then though either.

Large scale gatherings are going to be the last thing that restrictions are lifted on.
