What happened to the good old days when people used to selfimmolation for a cause they believed in.

This country can't even punish Paedophiles and animal abusers, let alone something that's a bit more morally complex.

That's not a protest, that's criminal damage. He's damaged other people's property.

That's like me putting a brick through this guys window and smashing every bit of his property I can get my hands on and then claim that I'm protesting oil. Do you think this guy would support that protest?

bots 18-04-2023 08:18 AM

i think they have to separate protest from criminal damage. If they commit criminal damage in the process of protesting, it should be an offence that results in them being locked up

Luca Brecel is the first player into the final. After a stunning comeback in the Quater-final to beat Ronnie o'Sullivan, he out did that in the semi-final by breaking the crucible comeback record. He trailed 14-5 before coming back to win 17-15.

The second semi-final is about to start. Mark Selby leads Mark Allen 11-10 going into this final session. They're already behind in frames having only played 21 frames so far when they should have already played 24. There is potentially 12 frames left if this goes all the way, and with the pace this tactical battle is going, they could still be playing at 3 o clock in the morning or later.

Alf 29-04-2023 08:11 PM

It may not go late after all. Selby has taken the first four frames of the session and now is just two frames away, leading 15-10.

Selby is a Green bays genius.

No. Got beat in the Quater-final.

Luca Brecel beat Ronnie and Luca is in the final. Selby is one frame away from joining him.

Well done to Luca Brecel.

Pulling off his own Birmingham City style comeback against Swansea moment.

Mark Selby has just done a 147. The first ever in a World championship final.

Go on The Jester

Had a good chat about snooker with the boy today in the car

Who will win/who are you rooting for? Selby or Brecel?

I'd like a Luca victory, but then it would be a great and massive achievement for Selby to take the title for a fifth time so whatever will be. X

1 Selby is my favourite player.

2 Selby is representing England and Brecel is representing Belguim.

I wouldn't want Belguim to beat England in the Football World championship final.

Ah yes, that's one way of looking at it. OK. I'll change my mind then and root for Selby.

Alf 30-04-2023 09:39 PM

Bracel leads 9-8 overnight.

Great evening session from Selby who was 6-2 down after this afternoons first session.

He's clawed his way back and made history with the first 147 in a final.

It's a great game. Brecel is playing very well too. The question is, can he maintain it? Selby is tried and tested and is a last day specialist.

Kate! 30-04-2023 09:46 PM

Selby is still the favourite with the bookies

For sure, he's one of the greatest ever players.

He just produced one of the greatest ever moments in the history of Snooker tonight.

Alf 30-04-2023 10:11 PM

Great moment for the referee to call a 147 in his final match too. I'm glad the referee enjoyed and milked the occasion.

Alf 01-05-2023 03:16 PM

Luca on the brink of the title. He leads 15-10 going into tonight's final session. Three frames away.

Only thing Selby can hope for is for Luca to get finishing line jitters. Luca is playing too good and has been the player of the tournament. He probably deserves to win it.

The Slim Reaper 01-05-2023 04:08 PM

Hopefully Luca finishes it off as Selby is just painful to watch, despite his greatness. Parts of his match V Allen had me wondering whether I had some rope and a short ladder.

You're one of those with no patience? A good tactical battle of Snooker chess is far more entertaining than one break and frame over, there's no drama in that. Selby games bring drama.

Patience is one thing, but I've seen him deliberately go full Ebdon and just take ages for no reason, including 6 and a half minute shot against Higgins when he was in zero danger. I like a tactical battles, but I'm against gamesmanship.
