The confederacy was formed to commit treason against the states, and to protect their rights to own slaves. The confederacy is still worshipped today but the statues are a different issue. They weren't erected after the wars as a way of healing the country, they were erected during the Jim Crow era to terrorise black people and remind them of their place.
This breakaway group isn't supported, and they'll be dealt with. No one will worship this group or remember them 5 minutes after they've been crushed.
If you can't see the very serious differences, I don't know what to tell you.
