There've been bailouts in the hundreds of millions of pounds for certain companies that provide nothing to the public without a transaction, so it only makes sense for this to happen.

Isn't it funny how the verge of economic collapse turns a government policies a certain shade of socialist, though? Almost like it's the necessary step.

joeysteele 16-06-2020 05:39 PM

Really great result.

However this government was going to stop this, that was its policy.
Despite even unrest among some of its own backbench MPs.

It was only because Marcus highlighted the issue and the media, or part of it that has some level of decency in it, picked the issue up too.

Otherwise the government would have in my view, never changed this policy.

The fact they were putting it in place, showed they don't listen, don't consult and just look at what they may get away with.

Thankfully that line failed again and they've been shamed into another reversal.

I'm all for u turns from politicians, always have been if they're right.
There'd be NO need for them however if there was any government in place,(because Labour didn't either between 1997 to 2010), which actually did right from the start.
By consulting properly and listening, before planning policy.
Especially during this pandemic.

Did I hear him say he is one of 5 with a single mum?

If so how did that happen?

Honestly I think free school meals should be all year round.

It's not like parents are any better off, or more able/inclined to cook when the schools are closed.

I agree.

Very lovely of Marcus.

Oh my,. Is Hopkins still spouting out her rubbish.

I cannot bear that awful woman.
She really comes out with tripe.

joeysteele 17-06-2020 06:31 AM

Honestly do any in this government have any knowledge of much.
The PM claims not to have known of Marcus and his campaign, until yesterday.

Now Matt ( bungling ) Hancock, has this morning changed his name from Marcus to Daniel in an interview.

For goodness sake!

Yet Ministers yesterday morning were insisting the policy wouldn't be changed.
Grant Shapps one of them.

Then when the PM is due to do the press conference, it is.
It's glaringly obvious, they were shamed into this u turn.
Shamed.

Yes shame SkyNewsHD did not correct him.

GMBHD itv was allowed to show the clip.
Of course Conservative cabinet MP's
are boycotting GMBHD itv

The boycott is ridiculous.
If a government is scared of probing questioning, that's a worrying sign.

It seems like other channels too, while pressing a question don't want Ministers also refusing to go on their shows to be interviewed.

So largely pussyfoot around them.
Hence not correcting Hancock.
Who frankly is and has been all through a total disaster in my view during this pandemic.

There's one probable reason people in public life are scared of certain interviews, that is much more than likely because they know it's unlikely they'll get away with their deceit by some very awkward and uncomfortable questioning.

Didn’t she declare herself bankrupt because she got sued to high heavens over defamation? How is she feeding her kids? Must be the $5 donations she begs for from her nazi fans

Quite possibly the same way I became a single parent, you became a single parent.......relationships break down:shrug:

It sounds like his mother did a fantastic job of bringing up her children....given the area she lived it massively deprived and full of drugs and gangs. She pushed Marcus to follow his dreams and look where he is now....a top flight footballer able to use his influence to help deprived children. Well done mummy Rashford :clap1:

It was Tory MPs responding to pressure from their constituents let's be honest

Not some overhyped player no one in the cabinet has heard of

Tory supporters are so upset, it seems.

On the one hand, I can see people's point when they say that people shouldn't have more kids than they can afford.

But on the other, it's not the children's fault their parents don't have money  Anyone who can look at a theoretical starving toddler and say "their parents should have used protection!!" needs a slap.

Like I said upthread, I hope this leads to permanent, all year round "school meals" for eligible kids.

Liam- 17-06-2020 02:22 PM

He had to be shamed into not starving poor children, but this is perfectly fine?
