Is Alice classed as a remake? It felt like a completely different take on the source material along with its sequel?

I guess it was a fresh adaptation, Burton put his style into it .

Yeah, which I don't mind when it comes to new versions.

Stuff like the Lion King feel like a massive waste of time.
