I just saw that

Cherie 15-12-2020 11:49 AM

very few songs recently I would bother listening to

Alf 15-12-2020 12:02 PM

Even The Wombles did an half decent job of a Christmas song, yet these overpaid pop stars of today are bloody useless.

Don't worry about it, you brought some resemblance of a decent Christmas song to the thread.

All these songs are trash. This is the song you've been looking for.

Better?

Alf 15-12-2020 12:21 PM

So far, the only one that has any legs to join the school of a Christmas classic is the Kelly Clarkson one, but even that's still well debatable.

James 15-12-2020 12:27 PM

The Leona Lewis one was pretty good.

Would that be "One more sleep?" if so, then good effort, but, nah!

Kizzy 15-12-2020 12:46 PM

Alf we finally found something we agree on!! This is truly a magical Christmas miracle ; )

Alf 15-12-2020 01:16 PM

I suppose Alf should do his top 40 Christmas song countdown thread!

What do you think?
Spoiler:

It doesn't matter what you think, I'm doing it

Vicky. 15-12-2020 01:18 PM

17 years ago?! ****s sake, I can remember when this came out! I feel like such a dinosaur recently.

Crimson Dynamo 15-12-2020 02:24 PM

Niamh. 15-12-2020 02:30 PM

It's now 20 years since the last great Christmas song.

Livia 26-11-2023 11:57 AM

Alfie's right. But Cherie is a close second with Driving Home for Christmas..

St Patrick’s Day - John Mayer

Lyrics

Here comes the cold
Break out the winter clothes
And find a love to call your own
You, enter you
Your cheeks a shade of pink
And the rest of you in powder blue
Who knows what will be
But I'll make you this guarantee
No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
In the dark, on the phone
You tell me the names of your brothers
And your favorite colors
I'm learning you
And when it snows again
We'll take a walk outside
And search the sky
Like children do
No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
And come January, we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And we'll both be safe 'til St. Patrrick's Day
We should take a ride tonight around the town
And look around at all the beautiful houses
Something in the way that blue lights on a black night
Can make you feel more
Everybody, it seems to me, just wants to be
Just like you and me
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
Come January, we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And if our always is all that we gave
And we someday take that away
I'll be alright, if it was just 'til St. Patrick's Day

I can't listen to Driving Home for Christmas. A pub we used to go in had karaoke on on a Saturday night and the DJ always played it in between singers....every week....all year
