That aside, the point has been made. Those with strong religious beliefs think they can tear down our democracy if it conflicts with their religion and that has to be stamped out quickly

We don't know the context he used the image though? I doubt after what happened in France he wanted to stir up controversy!

If you were in a religious studies class, would you expect your religion to be mocked? Don't get me wrong, i'm all for it, but I wouldn't expect it to be validated by the school. He obviously knew that, it's an emotive cartoon. I feel certain he did it knowingly to raise the issue in the community

It doesn't matter why he did it, he should be able to show a satirical drawing without his life being endangered and the only apologies being made are for his actions.

That's a fair reason to do it, to be fair. The way the parents ("parents") reacted, you can bet the kids don't get to see much of freedom, so it's only fair to demonstrate this.

I agree...however there is no freedom of speech anymore because people get offended by the slightest thing and twist it into something it isn’t.
Considering it was a highly populated Muslim school I think it was a stupid and disrespectful thing to do by a teacher...especially what happened to the teacher in France. Then again we shouldn’t have to yield to Terrorists and murderers.
Sadly it’s the world we now live in.

No religion deserves respect tbh  But I agree it was a stupid move, as of course his life would be in danger...

Do we know in what context the picture was shown? Given he was teaching RE its likely he was making a point about religion being mocked, I seriously doubt he was trying to offend, any more than if they showed the Life of Brian

I dont suppose he took it in the class and said "Hey everyone take a look at this...."

However Cherie...whatever context it was in it was a risque thing to do although I am a great believer in Freedom of Speech.

Well I am not a religious person...but I think we should respect people that have one. Having said that...religious people should also respect those that dont have a religion. It should work both ways.
This demonstration could just escalate...the point has been made...the Teacher is being dealt with...

The Protestors Demand that Teacher is Sacked.

Cherie 26-03-2021 04:40 PM

Whatever the grievance is here, this is not a normal way to carry on over an school incident take it up via the professional channels that are available to parents if they have an issue with a teacher

So much for inclusion, works one way only

These people could be looking for an opportunity to slice that mans head off, yet we see more police hounding someone for filming in public.

An Iman on the news tonight said the protest has been hijacked, tend to agree with him as it appeared to be mainly young men in their teens and early 20s, that said if they went through the proper channels to express their grievance in the first place like every other parent does, there would be nothing to hijack

We don't live in a caliphate, so the real question is why the hell shouldn't he?
