let's list what we know so far

Australia: Australia Decides 2022

Finland: UMK 2022

France: National Selection

San Marino: Una Voce Per San Marino

Serbia: Beovizija 2022

likely also to have NF's from Albania, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Sweden

Croatia: has a renewed contract for Dora at Opatija venue

rumours: Greece - national final?

Black Dagger 26-05-2021 06:46 PM

Iceland and Ukraine will be back to NFs as well.

Nicky91 27-05-2021 08:51 AM

somehow i'd love a good german ballad, from Germany

rock influences, someone who performs it with heart and soul

i'd give a shoutout for Karat, Silbermond those bands are as germans say ''Mega Geil''

i also give shoutout for past esc alumni from 80's Nino de Angelo, despite his COPD illness he still has a very strong powerful emotional vocal, but due to his illness that would rule him out since he is risk category sadly so he would have to opt for live on tape option then

Ireland national final might be back?

Nicky91 28-05-2021 12:56 PM

good

Nicky91 28-05-2021 04:54 PM

can we pray for Kazakhstan to debut and replace Belarus?

far less controversial country, and also one who can add to the diversity of the contest

Nicky91 04-06-2021 07:24 AM

betting odds for whom might be the host city

Nicky91 13-06-2021 08:19 AM

my pick for United Kingdom, if i had a role within BBC

Matthew Morrison (we know he can perform, sing quite well live, also has potential for a nicely produced pop song) + not too big for ESC either, and not unrealistic given his connections in BBC, greatest dancer ;)

can see him suiting a pop song ala Mans Zelmerlow

also way more charismatic than a James Newman, Michael Rice

italian delegation in Geneva

https://static.eurovision.tv/hb-cgi/...bada29b6ea.jpg

From left to right: Claudio Fasulo, Deputy Director of RAI Uno, Simona Martorelli (RAI), Felix Bergsson (RÚV), David Tserunyan (AMPTV), Martin Österdahl (EBU), Carla Bugalho (RTP), Yuval Cohen (KAN), Sietse Bakker (NPO), Astrid Dutrenit (NPO), Frank-Dieter Freiling (ZDF).

(Note: Claudio Fasulo isn’t on the Reference Group and Alexandra Redde (FTV) who is, is absent from the photo.)

The Reference Group is made up of elected Heads of Delegations, executive producers from previous Host Broadcasters and the ESC Executive Supervisor from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). It’s their job to steer the Contest from Host to Host.

The triumphant Italian Head of Delegation, Simona Martorelli, shared her excitement about Italy’s chance to host the world’s biggest music event:

'There is a lot of enthusiasm around the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy. This victory is combined with a sentiment of rebirth that Italy really needs. We’re looking forward to working with the Reference Group on producing an incredible ESC in Italy in 2022.

In the story of Eurovision, my favourite song is ABBA’s Waterloo and my favourite Italian entry is, of course, Maneskin’s Zitti E Buoni!'

Dismissing the old proverb ‘all roads lead to Rome’, Simona revealed the number one item on her agenda:

'Our first task is of course to find a great Host City over the summer for next year’s show.'

Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor Martin Österdahl welcomed the Reference Group to the EBU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland:

It’s great to finally be able to welcome the Reference Group to Geneva and meet in person for the first time in over 18 months.

The handover between the previous and next year’s Host Broadcaster is always a special moment and even more so this year. We’ve reflected on three spectacular shows in Rotterdam and are excited to welcome the team from RAI onboard and already looking forward to what they will bring us in 2022.

The countdown to Italy 2022 begins!

latest news so far

- EBU and Turkey are in advanced talks of a comeback after 10 years

Netherlands has a possible sensation in the making, one of our reality stars/presenters/singer Dries Roelvink wants to take part for us, and teased about his entry being actually very good, better than people know of his usual style

apparently bit in italian, and this is what he released, few months before the tease, a version of the classic Il Mondo

 July 2nd that tweet, back then was 80% complete, and week after that he went to italy to finish off the last bits and details

translating: he himself is amazed how scarily beautiful it becomes

Nicky91 24-07-2021 08:47 AM

Spain brings back Festival de Benidorm as their national selection

Nicky91 29-07-2021 08:56 AM

unrelated to esc2022

but we got a HD version of ESC2006 upcoming

Quote:

How is the Athens 2006 HD Cut different from the Contest that was broadcast?

As the high definition footage was never intended to be broadcast, there are a number of differences that viewers will notice

Not all of the cameras used in the Athens experiment were able to film in high definition (like those attached to some telescopic cranes) and so in this cut the difference in picture quality becomes apparent very soon on

The new HD technology is used from the opening seconds of the film: sweeping shots of the audience that are so crystal clear it’s possible to pick out individuals from the event that took place over 15 years ago

Something else fans will notice is that this is not a 'broadcast’ version of the show complete with postcards, on-screen graphics and all the bells and whistles that were added on top of the standard definition broadcast version at the time

However, in this version fans will be able to view the never-seen-before transitions between acts – some captured in full HD. The clear-up required after Daz Sampson’s Teenage Life to make way for Anna Vissi’s Everything is a spectacle in itself

Jens Geerts from the LGBTQ+ channel OutTV here, wrote and submitted a song for Melodifestivalen 2022

specifications for particular artist this entry should be sent to
- gender doesn't really matter
- can reach high notes, but is also comfortable singing pop songs
- has a recording studio available to sing the demo
- and is very comfortable being a diva ON stage

Nicky91 04-09-2021 01:32 PM

my prediction on how many participating countries

i'd say 40 or 41

i can see Armenia return, pretty likely since they have already made their return to a EBU event this year (junior eurovision)

i can see Montenegro return, they only withdrew to work on their budget, NOT financial problems

i sooo hope Turkey will finally return, and set the differences aside, since they are still pretty much popular within the eurofandom, even someone like Erdogan cannot ignore that forever, and they have been such a competitive nation in the contest, we do miss their sort of entries, hope EBU and TRT can finally work things out

Nicky91 11-09-2021 08:03 AM

who should Ireland go for in 2022?

we know there is a national final confirmed, but i would like it to be Michael Patrick Kelly, with a song similar to ''beautiful madness'' would be mainstream enough to appeal well to juries and doing not too badly around televoters

Nicky91 11-09-2021 08:04 AM

upcoming wednesday we get the first artist reveal, from Belgium

wallonian belgium this time, sooo the french side of theirs

Nicky91 11-09-2021 12:42 PM

details on san marino's nf

- Will commence in December, stretch over a few months of 2022 as well.
- Currently, it seems only people from Italy and San Marino will be able to participate. (could still change, official regulations and information has yet to come out).
- Everyone 14 years or older can participate (will be a fun thing if the winner is not 16 years old in May).
- To participate, a singer has to submit a cover / original song (doesn't really matter which) of their choice, and a jury will determine whether they're suitable to enter the festival. (the so-called "First Phase").
- The "Second Phase" consists of a two-day mandatory Academy (a series of training sessions on specific subjects of music, entertainment, and the best ability to study and know music such as writing, harmony, arrangement, and interpretation) and Casting (an interview where a music industry professional will evaluate a competitor's original song). It's basically an exam, as it'll be held in a private rooms. These exams determine whether they will continue to the "Third Phase" / Semi-Finals.

currently just some plans, but official regulations and announcements are coming soon
