Of Course the Proper Upgrade is Free
it should have done a few years ago.

Atmos sound is Great
But does anyone on TIBB have all the Speakers over 10
Fitted in the Ceiling?

The Costings in Thousands of Pounds.

Atmos Sound in Better cinemas
The IMAX that has Great 3-D
still does not have Atmos Speakers - - due to the Costings.
They have their own 12 channel speakers.

the atmos tech is built in to the current range of home sound systems, i don't have one yet, but its going to be inevitable in the next year or 2

the new sound bars have a massive array of speakers pointing in different directions, so the home setup can be vastly simplified, it doesnt need to cover the area that a commercial cinema does

arista 30-05-2021 04:29 PM

"the new sound bars have a massive array"

Yes I watched that.

Yes Like When I got 5.1
many got crap sound bars not giving Proper 5.1.

Of Course a Sound Bar is better than TV speakers.

But No way is that Proper Atmos.

I guess its ideal for you

arista 30-05-2021 04:31 PM

So no Real Atmos Speakers set up for you.
Thats a shame.

arista 30-05-2021 04:34 PM

If I ever Get Atmos
it will be with 15 speakers set up.
And a Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound new Amp.

As I have Sonos, I know how it works (although i dont have the atmos variety) I have a sound bar and then grouped with that i have a sub woofer and surrounds. With Sonos and i'm sure others, you can add and upgrade as you go, so if you wanted a full banging system with all the speakers you could have it, but it also works from a more space and cost aware modular approach

Allowing more speakers than any small Soundbar.

a few posts ago you were saying atmos was too expensive, so i was demonstrating how it didn't need to be so. I love the tech, so i will have a good system when i eventually upgrade .

But they serve their purpose. There are not many homes that can accommodate the speaker array for a full seperate atmos system

Cherie 30-05-2021 05:58 PM

I have no clue what's being said, clutches Roberts Radio :worry:

Yeah it does though coz i download all my albums on apple music 💀

bots 31-05-2021 05:21 AM

they will probably give you the choice of size you want to download

Yes this seems the most likely scenario, or it may default to compressed files on mobile devices etc. as those would fill up quickly.

We’re a Spotify bunch here not smelly Apple Music but I do download playlists to my phone, because we’re fans of a day/weekend trip to more rural Scotland where mobile data coverage can be “patchy” to put it mildly.

Tbh I’m not all that fussed about it being Atmos or even 7.1 for music since, other than in the car, I listen pretty much exclusively on headphones (good ones, obviously, but you can’t get “true” Atmos on a headset). Fully lossless would be nice though, I can actually tell the difference with compression. My wife can’t though, right down to basic MP3 quality, so I think it all really depends on the person.
