So I have to load my food up with salt, spices, and chilli's, and I have to have about 4 or 5 sugars in my tea, because I can tell sweetness, saltiness, and heat. Absolutely nothing else. Also have weird constant aching pains in my legs below the knees.

That's pretty ****ty. Will they ever come back or do they even know that?

Not to scare Mr Slim but it can be permanent, very rare though. He mentioned mid-August so I wouldn't be particularly concerned at 2 - 3 weeks, after maybe 2 months you'd want to consider further investigation.

having a PM who is literally the dumbest person on earth i've ever seen

wanting to relax even more measures, stupid moron Rutte, i am swearing at my tv everytime i see him

i know everything better, but ok if cases go massively up again, we know whose fault it is, Rutte and those irritating freedom loving moron anti-maskers :idc: freedom is irrelevant, mental health is irrelevant when it comes to a pandemic

now on the news also something stupid: mental health problems among youths rise

all in all, stupidity here in my nation annoys me a lot

I get chronic sinusitis with most colds and it's the same (zero sense of taste and smell, might as well be chewing on cardboard) and I hate it... it makes me genuinely miserable. I get properly down about it. But that usually only lasts 2 - 3 days, the longest I think was about 9 days (I got paranoid that it was forever on about day 6).

I can't imagine it going on for weeks/months :worry: ... I'd lose a tonne of weight and muscle mass... my wife has to remind me to eat when it happens because I just can't be bothered sitting chewing away on what feels like nothing. I end up just eating dry slices of bread or a handful of crackers because why bother making anything?

I definitely haven't lost weight, although I did lose about 1/4 of a stone from the week I had the full symptoms. Because I have such limited scope, I experimented with extremes in flavours, so I've been eating a lot of curry's, chips loaded with salt, bacon, and insanely sugared tea. I generally eat pretty healthily so it's not really an issue at the moment, but if they do go on for a an extended period of time, then I'll need to have a rethink about what I'm doing because loading up with fats and salt is going to screw me up long term.

It's pretty rare that permanent loss is a thing, but I can't be sure. I've read quite a lot about it and a few weeks after symptoms have gone seems to be a good marker, so I'm hopeful I'll only have another couple more weeks to deal with this.

The internet is full of horror stories, like I said I got totally paranoid about it once, was utterly convinced for a couple of days that it was gone forever, was properly moping on and on at my wife about it like ":bawling::bawling: But what about [various foods]?? I love those :bawling:. What if there's a gas leak :bawling:. What if I'm smelly and don't know :bawling:"

Then that very day literally mid-meal at dinner I was like " .... ....:shocked: ... I... I can smell it! I can taste the food!!!"

Ate like an absolute pig for a few days tbh.
