I most certainly do.

I don’t get it, what is being cancelled and what’s wrong with the photo…?

The non white characters are being erased from history by the racists.

user104658 02-03-2022 07:03 AM

So when branding is changed, the previous branding is erased from history? That seems a bit dramatic. Like when Joel McIlroy took over as Flynn in Home & Away, was Martin Dingle-Wall erased from history? Simply not possible he was a legend.

Think about that next time you say something so silly.

Are you just posting that because you have to be on the opposite side of the debate to me or are you genuinely arguing in the favour of the racists because
you agree with what they're doing?

Surely you can see there's a pattern emerging here with all these cancellations?

Well no one watches Home & Away anyway, these brands are used by everyone

From what I’ve read they got cancelled because the branding had ‘negative stereotypes’.

But these cancellers are ridiculous, usually white female and middle class seeking approval from those less fortunate than them.

Didnt they once try to cancel Kevin the Carrot adverts because it wasn’t ‘representative’ of us as humans??

Again I don't see any stereotypes, they're just people smiling :joker: though I guess some racists might see a black person and immediately think "slave" ?

Negative stereotypes is just the excuse they use to hide the real reason because they know people wouldn't stand for the real reason.

No it was actually because Kevin cornered a piece of broccoli back stage and forced it to look at his dick.

Not many people know that.

The Slim Reaper 02-03-2022 10:27 AM

I'll never look at carrot batons the same way again.

Alf 02-03-2022 10:49 AM

Would anyone like to join my campaign to resurrect Uncle Ben?

Bring our Benny back!

Livia 02-03-2022 10:58 AM

I don't think that's going to happen, Alfie. Too many white people outraged by it... on black people's behalf.

Seriously though on the thread topic. Do you care? Like do you actually care? Do you care what's on your rice pack or the label on your sauce jar? Does it ACTUALLY bother you, does it ACTUALLY make you sad that it's being "erased"? I don't buy it. I think it's just that "if it seems woke, it'll annoy some folk". Just as simple as that. You're not boo-hooing about any other branding changes, just the ones that you think have been sparked by something that gets under your skin.

Book a holiday, take a nice bath, stop crying over ****ing cook-in stir fry sauce.

The Slim Reaper 02-03-2022 11:45 AM

I agree TS - and to celebrate, I might go and treat myself to a lovely marathon bar :smug:

That's the question you should be asking the cancellers. Until they made the move, everything was fine.

I don't actually care, but I do question the motives of people who want to erase non-white faces from the shelves.

There are non-white faces across loads of products, it's just outdated images of slave-time mammi's, uncle toms, or minstrels, are a little past their sell by date, as the companies themselves have decided.

bots 02-03-2022 11:51 AM

dont buy the product if it annoys you so much. Nobody is forcing you

You're trying but you haven't succeeded yet.

James Bond didn't work for you and Marathon to Snickers isn't going to cut it either. We're talking about erasing non-White characters from existence.

Livia 02-03-2022 11:52 AM

There's a black man on Reggae Reggae Sauce, a black man invented it so... that's okay. So why no black face on peanut butter? It was invented by black scientist George Washington Carver. I don't see why it's offensive to have a black face on a product and I've never heard anyone black complain.

Don't worry about it, I won't be.

bots 02-03-2022 11:55 AM

it's the companies themselves that are making these decisions, and that is always based on their bottom line.
