So this is a done deal? Don't the shareholders have to agree to sell?

They get Richer.

[Under the terms of the deal, shareholders will
receive $54.20 in cash for each share
of Twitter stock they own,
matching Musk's original offer and
marking a 38% premium over the stock price the
day before Musk revealed his stake in the company.]

it still requires a shareholder vote and someone else could come in and offer more to shake it all up. However, twitter as we know it, will be gone in a few months

because it wasnt generating revenue. Musks twitter will bear no relation to how it is now. My guess is it will become like the wild west

Cherie 26-04-2022 08:49 AM

He says he will have a lighter touch whatever that means

bots 26-04-2022 09:01 AM

he is an advocate of free speech, which obviously isnt a bad thing, but it's easy to say what could be better when you are not actually in the hot seat

If it becomes more toxic, which is quite likely, it will drive people away in their millions. It could easily end up being the end of twitter in the same way as facebook has had its day

Probably that all his right wing, bigoted, conspiracy theory friends, that were banned for good reason, will come back and they’ll all be allowed to run rampant

Niamh. 26-04-2022 09:13 AM

never use Twitter anyway, seems like it's already a cesspit

James 26-04-2022 09:20 AM

There are other social networks that are more successful in terms of user numbers and revenue, but Twitter is more influential.

Its influence is actually disproportional to its users.

I never realised Whatsapp was so popular.

Niamh. 26-04-2022 09:22 AM

Literally everyone I know has a family/friend Whatsapp group

Vanessa 26-04-2022 09:26 AM

I use Twitter sometimes.
I have some good friends there.
But I actually prefer Facebook.

bots 26-04-2022 09:26 AM

meta owns 3 of the top 4 on that revenue list

Alf 26-04-2022 11:37 AM

What's Elon gonna find that they've been upto? Have they been working with governments? Have they been giving out people's personal details to governments and organisations? Have they been selectivly silencing people to control the narrative? Is that why they panicked about him taking over?

Alf 26-04-2022 11:41 AM

Is it gonna be the return of silenced voices?

Donald Trump
Tommy Robinson
Milo
Katie Hopkins
Alex Jones
James Woods (actor)
Tatiana Mcgrath
Carl Benjamin (Sargon)
Babylon Bee
Project Veritas
And many, many more.

arista 26-04-2022 11:45 AM

No Alf

Trump has said he does not want to go back on Twitter

arista 26-04-2022 11:47 AM

Katie Hopkins
would love to return, of course

USA Milo
would also like to return

Alf 26-04-2022 11:48 AM

Milo Yiannopolous was one of the first to be permanently banned, for critiquing an actors performance in the Ghostbusters film. They never let him back on.

The real reason they wanted him gone was because his voice was influential in getting Trump elected in 2016, so they had to stop him and people like him simply to try and stop Trump winning again.

Do you have any footage of him saying that or has that come from someone else?

Trump apparently says a lot of things that don't always turn out to be true.

There was a Tommy Robinson account up yesterday. Apparently it was legitimate but I'm not certain.
