The Met Office’s Dan Harris added: “Weather forecast models are run numerous times to help us quantify the likelihood of a particular event occurring, and estimate the uncertainty which is always present in weather forecasting to some degree. For late in next weekend and especially early next week, some runs of these models continue to allow exceptionally high temperatures to develop, which is something we’ll keep monitoring closely and adding details in the coming days as confidence increases.

“Some models had been producing maximum temperatures in excess of 40C in parts of the UK over the coming weekend and beyond. These have highlighted the potential which exists in the developing weather situation, but recent evidence suggests the chances have decreased. That said, it’s still a few days away, and there is still time for reversal of this trend. Mid, to possibly locally high, 30s remains more likely.”

I don't think the 40+ is very likely, but it's the trend that is important. This is the first time ever, that models have predicted a temperature in the 40's in the UK and that is a worry

We might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

It’s actually been comparatively cold where I’m at today (ditto for last night) but before I know it it’ll be scorching again. Like I said elsewhere I’m fine with hot or cold weather most of the time but I’m just coming out of a nausea bug that had me pretty floored last week and the heat isn’t helping that much at the moment. I don’t know what I’m going to do if it gets to the point where we’re on 43 degrees.

Exceptional, perhaps record-breaking, temperatures are likely on Monday, then again on
Tuesday. Nights are also likely to be exceptionally warm for the UK, especially in urban
areas. This is likely to lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.
Temperatures are expected to drop away from Wednesday onwards.

I had a bad feeling about this as it's been very persistent this heat has.

Cherie 15-07-2022 12:22 PM

27 today and a nice breeze, like normal summer stuff, I appreciate next week is going to be hot, but like wind warnings they seem to be going OTT

Its part of their "climate crisis" politics

we have a Zoom call with our American cousins on a Thursday and my sister was inside with the blinds down as it was 22 degrees, (she lives in Galway and trust me they don't get much sun) the Americans were howling

I remember when i lived in Oz and it was 12 C and the locals all had winter coats on and scarves and were all "ooo its bitter" :joker:

Nicky91 15-07-2022 12:40 PM

no heat today here, thankfully few calm days before the madness of monday, tuesday and wednesday next week

using this to my optimal advantage of getting my ps4 external game drive installed and ready, i never like doing such stressful things which you need to concentrate a lot with and i cannot concentrate well with hot weather

any garden work like cutting old lavender flowers i have postponed until most of this vile hot weather is behind us
