Could well be the beginning of the end of American democracy over the next 48 hours, so pretty significant for those with even a minor interest in history.

i'm switching between cnn, fox news and msnbc and they all voice similar sentiment and none of them can call the result

Be prepared for the republicans to shout fraud when the early voting ballots start being counted

How's that, you expecting some rigging?

If Republicans win, then they will not certify any other candidate but whomever is the republican on the ticket for president in 2024. Basically what they tried to do last time, but they've spent the last 2 years putting election deniers into election overseers posts, and now they'll hold the power to be able to do it successfully.

Not expecting these elections to be rigged (whichever side wins), but this could be the last elections that are relevant over there for a while.

the gop are likely to control the house and have a strong chance of capturing the senate. They will make gains in governorships across states which means they set the voting rules and certify the results of the next presidential election in those states. Of the >300 candidates they are putting up for election in the house, more than 200 of them are election result deniers.

Well according to some Americans they don't need democracy apparently.

This was of course after Trump lost the General Election.

the dems are doing better than expected for a mid term, so that bodes well for the next presidential election

It's gonna take a lot of effort for Republicans to win back the groups of voters that they've lost after January 6th imo.

A lot of Americans pride themselves on being a democratic society, those people will take a senile leader over a Party that once threatened their democracy.

Tbh I am shocked at how quick some of the voters have been to forgive the Republicans.

Republican Chuck Grassley got re-elected to the senate, he is 90 years old

When it comes to mainstream Republicans, there's nothing to forgive. A bunch of Trumptards got high on their own farts and ran around a government building. That didn't represent the party as a whole.

Isn't she the crackpot who refused to concede last time she lost?

Liam- 09-11-2022 09:47 AM

A monumentally embarrassing result for the republicans

Except she conceded last time and this time, without any crackpottery. Georgia has been kicking black people off election rolls, so her platform was to restore voting rights. Whichever way you spin it, that is a fairly mainstream ambition.

also Kemp, the guy that won, was the main man that had the balls to stand up to trump and certify the vote, he will have earned respect for that

As far as I know she never conceded for the 2018 vote? As of January she still hadn't.

bots 09-11-2022 11:34 AM

the danger will come if the republicans win the house with a small majority, because then that qanon women will have too much influence
