tactically Southgate is a bit weak, but he does learn. If you put his constant need to be politically correct to one side, he has created a very good organisation behind the team, and that's no small feat. Also, I don't know of any competent person that is available to take over

He didn’t learn from his mistakes against Croatia or Italy

I’d keep him on as long as he agreed to have someone there for strategies/ tactics like Potter ..

Most of the time I would say that you're correct.

There has been the odd game in Football though where a fundamental decision that the Referee got wrong has made a huge impact on the result, especially if the opposition is already a really good team like France, basically it was made nearly impossible for England to win this particular game.

Tbh Southgate is the only Manager that I trust to have England do well because he seems to be really passionate about the team.

So many matches can result in the luck just not being with you.
Good one Kazanne.

The manager is a loser

i dont know how many more times this has to be illustrated?

Crimson Dynamo 12-12-2022 06:12 PM

but he is a nice man they say

yep

winners are not

1) Kane. The missed penalty was the turning point.

2) The ref was bad but England had their chances to level. See point one.

3) Southgate is too cautious. I like that he's careful and defensive but he need to recognise the time to go for it. These opportunities don't come around five or six times in a career but it looks like he gonna need four or five goes at winning a major tournament to actually win it. He needs to recognise its time to become 'Sir' Gareth and go for it.

He also needs to move away from his favourite players. Saka was drawing two defenders for most of the 2nd half but Southgate took him off for Sterling?
