it will not end up in dorset, they cannot override the wishes of local residents. If they try, they open the door for a lot of trouble

:skull:

Sure, but them spending a majority of their time on a barge is safer for the locals than a hotel probably on the high streets etc ...

6, 549 illegal migrants have arrived this year

that boat can take 500

So we have to put 6000 in hotels at our own expense

Good Old Jeff Moody (former BBC reporter)
reporting from the Mega Barge

arista 06-06-2023 07:06 AM

The Barge is running late
it was meant to be there by now.

Yesterday, the PM confirmed, he
now has 2 more Large Barges,
not saying the place they will be,
yet.

Kazanne 06-06-2023 08:57 AM

There was just a guy on TV who was in the Falklands and said they used to live in the barges, they are perfectly good enough to house people in,infact they are probably better than some homes, they have probably all the mod cons etc, much better for those fleeing a country they cant live in,for me if they have a roof over their heads and are safe,I don't see a problem.

user104658 06-06-2023 09:08 AM

The cost of illegal immigration to the UK is less than 0.1% of GDP.

Mountains and molehills come to mind -- but "immigration stuff" is a vote-winner so it's really just performative. "Look! We're putting them on this giant dystopian barge. Vote for us!"
