Nicky91 10-07-2023 07:43 AM

i might do the first show this afternoon :) splitting them into two sections

this afternoon will be Boys First Dances, tomorrow will be Ladies First Dances

Nicky91 10-07-2023 12:31 PM

alright the moment we all been waiting for, time now for part 1 of live show 1, first performances of the boys

but first lemme introduce you these 4, our judges

Craig Revel Horwood

Shirley Ballas

Motsi Mabuse

and introducing our newest addition to the panel, former pro dancer AJ Pritchard

-------------
and kicking us off is no one other than David DeLuise and Dianne Buswell

Craig: i'm sure you gave it a good go but some places it looked really awkward, although it came across better than i was expecting, at least it wasn't a dance disaster, 6

Shirley: you got up on the wrong foot after the knee slide, although a very romantic take on the wild paso, with the acoustic guitar bit in the beginning of the performance, all in all, a nice start 7

Motsi: i tell you what, you guys have the makings of a great partnership on this show, you are exactly what Dianne needs right now, i'm impressed, keep up the good work 8

AJ: when ur taking on traditional music in dances like Paso's, Tango's everything just has to be super solid, not much room for mistakes, for week 1 this is amazing, if we were at a later stage in the competition i would've downmarked you guys a bit more however this is a pretty good start of your journey, well done 8

total: 29

excellent paso from David & Dianne

Nicky91 10-07-2023 12:37 PM

dancing next are Caspar Lee & Nancy Xu and they take on a Salsa

Craig: your hip rotation is pretty slick, however everything from the top was a disaster, darling, you were constantly singing along to the music NO LIP SYNC ALLOWED darling, this was like watching two different performances, lame 3

Shirley: don't listen to what big meanie Craig says, you got plenty of charisma, Nancy put in more than enough salsa content between all the streetdancey artsy fun moves, this was fun 8

Motsi: great energy, great chemistry, although work on selling the dance a bit more, but great start 8

AJ: Craig talks a lot of nonsense all the time, don't mind his critique, you did well for a first time, this was a really nice uplifting modern take on the salsa, good work 8

total: 27

what the **** at Craig's 3, it was good fun

Nicky91 10-07-2023 12:43 PM

up next are Sir Steve Redgrave and Elstree's own national treasure Karen Hauer with a Cha Cha Cha

Craig: thank god you aren't James Cracknell 2.0, love this disco nightclub inspired cha cha cha, and yes there was a lot of CHA CHA CHA content in this routine, for a non-musician, your sense of musicality is also quite admirable 5

Shirley: that was brave of Karen to let you begin the routine on your own, those cuban breaks were quite decent for a novice like yourself, your legs were very straightened as they should be, not perfect but great for a week 1, fun performance too 6

Motsi: my fave part of the routine is actually you including some disco moves of your own Steve, you got a good sense of rhythm for your age, wow am impressed 7

AJ: i thought here we go, we would get another hopeless case a la John Sergeant, Greg Wise, James Cracknell, but you can be competitive on the dancefloor as well, in olympic terms speaking ''one step closer to the medals'' well done 6

total 24

complete shocker, Steve turning out not to be a too much of a duffer as we first thought he would be

Nicky91 10-07-2023 12:59 PM

time now for our most controversial contestant of the year, no not you donald trump its Philip Schofield and newbie Michelle Tsiakkas with a Waltz

Craig: repetitive, dull, forgettable and very little difficult technical skills shown from you, this was bad 2

Shirley: not great, not bad but just a middle of the road basic performance, not a too bad start from you, next week we wanna see a slightly more challenging routine for you in the latins 4

Motsi: could've been a lot worse, also you did decent despite struggling with the nerves, next week we want improvements 4

AJ: not a fan of this routine, boring and quite stiff 1

total: 11

quite a bad and snoozefest of a waltz

Nicky91 10-07-2023 01:08 PM

alright, next up are Owen Warner and Ekaterina Leonova with a foxtrot

Craig: have to say, am really loving this contemporary fusion foxtrot, it has enough swing and sway for foxtrot elements but the contemporary bits give it such a modern twist, really great performance 7

Shirley: no dance background, well kudos to your dance partner Ekat for bringing this out of you, well done 8

Motsi: fabulous performance, this is a dance which could be also a routine in a semi final, wow 9

AJ: love the literal eyes closed dancing bits in the beginning, a very lyrical, meaningful and very modern foxtrot, i love it 9

total: 33

wow, first 9's of the series a fact, and two of them as well! gorgeous foxtrot

Nicky91 10-07-2023 01:15 PM

dancing next it's Luke Black and our reigning glitterball champion Jowita Przystal with a tango

Craig: sharp, tight, smooth technique, also somehow very elegant and feminine, good performance 8

Shirley: this felt like a performance perfect for the West End, amazing musicality, a really nice sciencefiction vibe all over in the performance, lovely tango content too, well its never too early for that 10 from Shirley

Motsi: my fave part is the voguing bit in the middle of the ''hello, game over'' bit, we love a bit of voguing in anything don't we, very great performance, you guys have potential 9

AJ: love how cheerful our two ladies are in terms of scores and critiques but i am more cautiously optimistic, you have potential but i'm not sure yet if you can keep performing well under pressure, this was good 8

total: 35

our first 10 of the series! good tango

Nicky91 10-07-2023 01:20 PM

and last up for today, its hollywood actor Asa Butterfield and Katya Jones with a Waltz

Craig: sophisticated, very neat footwork, good amount of storytelling, this is a promising start from you 8

Shirley: your ballroom hold can be a lot better, think the flower in a vase shape for your next ballroom in few weeks from now if you're still in the competition, this was decent but you have potential to be a prince of ballroom 7

Motsi: agree with Craig on the storytelling, very dramatic yet very emotional and classy, quite neat footwork, this was a good routine 8

AJ: we can compare you to Philip earlier on, whereas Philip's was very dull, this felt very disney like, very enchanting, yes i enjoyed this a lot 8

total: 31

good waltz

Nicky91 10-07-2023 01:26 PM

oh we have one more to go, he would've been performing earlier on in the show however he had technical difficulties, here are Jack Dee and Nadiya Bychkova with their Cha Cha Cha

Craig: great fun cha cha, cuban breaks however looked a bit too rigor mortis for my liking, but i'm sure the public has enjoyed it too 4

Shirley: technique was non-existent but doesn't matter too much in week 1, good thing you kept going despite making the mistake, i'm cheering you on 6

Motsi: can we call this the Jack Dee, no longer the cha cha cha, this was iconic 6

AJ: we also need people like you in this show, you're a novice and you had fun, this was fun to watch 6

total: 22

funny ''cha cha cha''

Nicky91 10-07-2023 01:27 PM

leaderboard

1. Luke & Jowita 35
2. Owen & Ekaterina 33
3. Asa & Katya 31
4. David & Dianne 29
5. Caspar & Nancy 27
6. Sir Steve & Karen 24
7. Jack & Nadiya 22
8. Philip & Michelle 11

Nicky91 11-07-2023 12:34 PM

alright yesterday we had boys night, now today it is kick off for our 8 fabulous ladies

and first to dance are Crystal Yu and Nikita Kuzmin with a Cha Cha Cha

Craig: this was absolutely incredible, you got the makings of a true latin superstar, A-Ma-Zing 8

Shirley: the cuban break bits in slomo was a quite inspiring idea, thank you for that Nikita, that was great fun to watch 9

Motsi: Crystal came to eat up that dancefloor, she came, she saw and she slayed big time, this was divine 9

AJ: it's almost as if you have been doing this for like 20 years, that fearlessness too, wow 9

total: 35

superb cha cha

Nicky91 11-07-2023 12:39 PM

next up it is Toonesday, as its Ella Toone and Vito Coppola with a foxtrot

Craig: your thumb was sticking upwards i'm afraid, also quite a lack of rise and fall, this more seemed like a nice waltz than a foxtrot 5

Shirley: storytelling was lovely, agree with Craig, there was some lack of rise and fall, not much flow throughout the routine either, few too stilted places for my liking, this was decent but could've been better 5

Motsi: not bad for a week 1, but just a bit middle of the road, keep working hard guys 6

AJ: not your finest hour sadly, also i feel a lack of chemistry between the two of you 3

total: 19

not sure about the 3, but quite a mediocre foxtrot

Nicky91 11-07-2023 12:46 PM

dancing next it is the legend of albert square, here's Lorraine Stanley and Johannes Radebe with their Samba

Craig: a samba is supposed to be flirty, sexy, hot, well everything your routine was sadly not so much, this more felt like a performance after a few drinks in the Queen Victoria on albert square, awkward 1

Shirley: for a lady like yourself, this samba was always gonna be a very tricky dance, and i thought you did the best you possibly could with it 5

Motsi: don't mind our critiques just continue being you and entertain your fans, you are a legend to many people 5

AJ: those volta's looked a bit too wooden, that samba roll or whatever that was, this is quite a disastrous performance 3

total: 14

the only way is up for our Eastend Queenie i guess

Nicky91 11-07-2023 12:50 PM

now it is time for the return of the Anton, here are Sian Welby & Anton Du Beke with their Viennese Waltz

Craig: you are in very trusted hands with our King of Ballroom, this was a elegant, fabulous routine, also love how much drama was in this 7

Shirley: shame about the fleckrl not going as perfect as you'd want it, nevertheless this was a very competitive routine, the drama and acting for a non-actress like yourself was amazing to see 8

Motsi: you got potential girl, quite a pleasant surprise this routine 7

AJ: this much drama in a viennese waltz, makes me excited seeing you in dances like Paso Doble or Tango, really a superb performance 8

total: 30

Nicky91 11-07-2023 12:55 PM

halfway down, 4 more to go

and time now for our olympic hero, here are Dina Asher-Smith and Gorka Marquez with their Tango

Craig: sexy, sassy, very modern performance, FAB-U-LOUS 8

Shirley: this felt like we were all on the streets in havana, the fire in this performance was sensational, i think we found ourselves a first frontrunner, 10

Motsi: i'm speechless, wow wow wow wow, i don't know what to say, this was simply phenomenally hot 10

AJ: this is your dance, a tango needs attack, and you give a whole load of attack, all of your olympic fighter mentality thrown into this, amazing 10

total: 38

whew, 3 10's in week 1 :worship: great tango

Nicky91 11-07-2023 12:59 PM

next to dance are Mehreen Baig and Giovanni Pernice with their Jive

Craig: this had its good and bad moments, some of your footwork was limp, lame, lacklustre but your top half, your musicality and enthusiasm is inspirational 6

Shirley: for a novice this wasn't bad, and for week 1 standards it is ok, but do remember as weeks go on, the competition gets tougher, keep working hard 6

Motsi: very decent bits to be seen in this jive, very recognizable kicks and flicks, not bad 6

AJ: jives in week 1 always sucks to get those immediately, you did great and good choreo from Gio too 7

total: 25

decent jive

Nicky91 11-07-2023 01:05 PM

dancing next it is Scarlett Moffatt and Carlos Gu with their Waltz

Craig: good waltz, but try to improve on your posture especially when turning to keep it in the same shape throughout, was a very magical performance all in all 6

Shirley: shame you went out of hold couple times, but of course necessary for the storytelling in Carlos's choreo, what we saw in hold, was good, but next ballroom you do, more in hold dancing less faffing about and you'll do great 6

Motsi: great routine, but yeah now we need to see more techniques from you, good enough for a week 1 performance anyway for now 7

AJ: lovely charming little routine, just wish Carlos would've given you more in hold moments to work with, you got the makings of a cute ballroom princess 6

total: 25

cute waltz

Nicky91 11-07-2023 01:10 PM

last up are Vanessa White and Kai Widdrington with their Cha Cha Cha

Craig: love this disco themed cha cha, very fun and flirty and sassy, great performance 8

Shirley: great start to your journey, it was a good cha cha 8

Motsi: you ooze confidence on that dancefloor, it's great to see, very strong dynamic disco routine 8

AJ: hand placement very slick, footwork looked super clean and crisp throughout, well done 9

total: 33

good cha cha, great end to our week 1 show
