Probably far more to the story than Farage would likely have had people first believe.

He shouldn't be prevented from having a bank account certainly, however it may help if he was always being fully truthful at times too.

BBC claim he has NOT got the Money
now for the Business Account.

He has fallen below the Amount needed

But he can open a Current Account

[Speaking later to BBC Radio 4's World At One,
Mr Farage insisted that his financial situation
'hasn't changed' and Coutts are
'absolutely not telling the truth'.
'I've been with them for over a decade and at
the moment I have more money sitting on
current account than I've had for
most of that period of time,' he said .
But Mr Farage did not dispute that he did not meet
the financial threshold for a Coutts account.
He added he had spoken to a number of high street
and private banks and had received nine refusals,
with his lawyers having discovered he
is classed as a PEP for both personal
and business accounts.
Mr Farage, who joked he is not as wealthy
as 'most BBC presenters',
demanded new laws to ensure it is a
'fundamental right for everybody
to have a bank account' in Britain.
'We need a change to the legislation - everybody should
be entitled to a bank account,
simple as that,' he added.

PEPs are described as individuals around the world
with 'prominent public functions'.
UK law recognises the risk of PEPs abusing their
positions for private gain and using the financial
system to launder the proceeds of any abuse.
They are required to go through enhanced scrutiny
when using the services of financial firms,
such as banks.]

Coutts said they dont comment on individual cases when contacted by GB news

meanwhile they tell the FT and BBC private details about Niger Farage's bank account

Name and shame who at Coutts did this

bots 04-07-2023 06:38 PM

Coutts have always had minimum wealth requirements, thats why people use them as a bank. It's like a platinum card

arista 04-07-2023 06:49 PM

Farage needs over £1Million
to have Business Account in Coutts bank

Crimson Dynamo 04-07-2023 07:45 PM

the thought that as a long-standing client you would be spurned with no reason is an insult to our intelligence and shame on the pathetic BBC and FT to peddle such nonsense in cahoots with BIG FINANCE

bots 04-07-2023 07:52 PM

you have to ask why he wanted to bank with Coutts in the first place

He's just using this to get himself in the media.
As you say that bank has always had minimum levels to banking with it.

If he really didn't know that then he either doesn't understand or read conditions of their banking process.
Or he's just plain stupid.

banks are legally obliged to provide a banking platform to anyone and everyone. The type of account that people can have may be subject to particular requirements, but they must provide a basic account if requested. That is the law
