yeah its no biggie unless you are in a mad rush ...

the roads around me are all windy single lane and you always end up behind some slow vehicle. You can either get irate and risk killing yourself taking risks or you can just chill and accept your journey will take an extra 5 mins

You say that but up until a couple of years back, if you were driving up the east coast in Scotland there were a couple of 50 - 100 mile stretches with no good overtaking spots, and you could legitimately get stuck behind some old sunday driver doing 40mph for over an hour :joker:. Infuriating! Logging trucks are another frequent offender because they're slow and even harder to overtake.

They've improved the roads a bit in recent times though, more dual sections so everyone can leave the slowpokes behind.

But a couple of years back we got stuck in a slow line of traffic for hours coming back from somewhere around Inverness. My wife was driving... I thought she might murder someone.

The difference being that a Tractor cannot do anything other than pull over now and again...sheep and horses are oblivious but Cyclists ARE fully aware and can cycle one or two abreast to make it easier for traffic to pass..:shrug:

TBF as a basic "good practice" rule of thumb, if you wouldn't have space to overtake a full-sized vehicle, you shouldn't overtake a cyclist (or micro-car, scooter, whatever) either... you should "act like" they're a full-sized vehicle. If a nitpicky coppa sees you overtake a small vehicle and not leaving "full lane width" you're likely to get pulled over. Dependent of course on if the police car in question can be arsed at the time. But that's a bit of a roulette.

I'd also note that farmers/tractors in my experience are quite driver-friendly compared to cyclists - they'll nudge over to the left and wave you forward when the road's clear for over taking. OCCASIONALLY cyclists will do the same. Have to admit it sometimes seems like a lot of them get their jollies making it as difficult as possible.

I’d agree .. they’re the opposite to bud drivers ( Gtr Manchester) who indicate then immediately pull out in front of you ..

A tractor will pull over once a few cars build up and it'll let them pass. Cyclists are far too entitled to do that.

Good point. A lot of horse riders who have to do a good amount of roadwork, take the BHS exam 'riding road safety'. During the training you are told to always keep your horse at least two feet from the curb, because if you go too close to the curb cars will risk passing you when there's not enough room.
