The best part about this scheme is if you can afford 12.50 a day you can pollute the air as much as you like ...just hand over that cash

Sadiq Khan defiant as hated ULEZ expansion comes into force: London Mayor ignores backlash and Labour alarm - denying £12.50-a-day charge is 'anti-car' Story by James Tapsfield, Political Editor For Mailonline • 1h Sadiq Khan is defying fury from Londoners and rising Labour alarm today as the ULEZ expansion comes into force. In a bruising round of interviews this morning, the mayor denied that extending the ultra-low emission zone to almost all of the capital was 'anti-car'. He dismissed fears from allies of Keir Starmer about the political consequences of imposing the £12.50-a-day levy so widely - insisting people 'want to see their leaders taking bold action'. But Tories stepped up their attacks on the policy, branding it a 'money-raising exercise' - and warning that the end-game will be a pay-per-mile system for drivers. Transport Secretary Mark Harper said he would have blocked the plan if he had the power. |

Glasgow city council spends £3k a week hiring vans at eleventh hour to comply with LEZ
Hundreds of vehicles belonging to the SNP-run local authority are not compliant with the controversial low emissions zone – so it is simply spending taxpayers' cash to hire new motors instead An estimated 600 vehicles in Glasgow City Council's fleet of motors are not permitted inside its Low Emission Zone (LEZ) which was introduced on June 1. The banned list even includes the Lord Provost's VW Phaeton limousine. https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co....ds-3k-30424575 |
