LT, if you want to comment on the law, it would be a good idea to learn it first. Five seconds is not long enough to decide to use deadly force against the vitcim. The victim may not have heard the command, been confused at being shouted at by two officers etc. How many times did he warn him before firing? There are levels of escalation and this cop decided to skip a few of them

Criminal charges may have been dropped but there will almost certainly be a civil suit pending. The cop stand more chance of being found guilty in civil courts

“I screamed that he had a knife,” Morris testified.

Defense lawyer Brian McMonagle urged Judge Wendy Pew to drop all charges, which
included manslaughter, official oppression and four other counts.

“He is firing while trying to take cover,” McMonagle said in court Tuesday,
adding that the charges never should have been filed by District Attorney
Larry Krasner.

“I agree with you 100%,” the judge replied as she threw out the case for a lack of
evidence.

OK I'll bite. So why has the cop been fired? There must have been an internal investigation that decided dismissal was the appropriate action. If everything is above board then please explain why he is no longer a police officer.

I'm surprised the charges have been dropped simply because the cop has been fired. At this point, the department doesnt need to save face, they've made their decision. However, I'm not so surprised as its Philadelphia where police already have a bit of a reputation.

I could post you a similar case in New Mexico where the cop simply drew their gun on an unarmed man. The COp was fired and the city DA is pressing charges.

Some people in life just want to push your buttons and get an argument out of you and it’s on you to exercise self-control and try really hard not to give in. I’m not saying much other than the blatantly obvious in that there’s no justification for this or law that can possibly justify it (and anyone who understands the law will just know that off the bat). You don’t give someone five seconds to surrender and then yell shoot. But I’ve said what I wanted to say now so I’ll cap it there. I’m not rising to what’s obvious bait.
