Micky is great.

His "peeping" routine is genius.

That's peeping out your window from behind your curtains.

Also his "demise of fingering" routine is superb.

Ive seen Micky, Rhod Gilbert, Lou Sanders and Jason Manford live. All very very funny. I also live James Acaster.

I'd pick Monkhouse. Dont forget Tarby Alf.

She's not funny Neem. She's just stolen Jo Brand's jokes about eating cake. And Jo Brand is not that funny. But at least more original tha Milican.

I can't believe you're making me defend Jo Brand. I prefer Milican as a person.

It's a good job we're different people with different taste. I like her, much more than Jo Brand too

There's nobody as unique as Lee Evans. I watch North Americans viewing him for the first time and trying to compare him with Jim Carrey.

I'm a big fan of Jim Carrey as a comedy actor. But he's not in Evans league infront of a live audience at stand-up and trust me, Evans used to pack out huge arena's. I'd guess Carrey never played to those size of crowds in his stand up days.

I'm not saying Evans was the best, but he has to be in the argument.

Lee Evans is painful to watch, all his gurning and sweating

That's also known as putting effort into your work.

His act wouldn't work if he just stood at the microphone like Stewart Lee or hundreds of the other stand ups.

That's why Evans was packing out huge arena's and probably the most successful stand up of the 90s

Best UK standups that I think have been missed

Jimmy Tarbuck
Nigel Ng AKA Uncle Roger
Richard Ayoade
Jon Richardson
Ross Noble
Kevin Bridges
Lee Mack
Greg Davies

It's just not funny, he's like a glorified Mr Bean.

Greg Davies is hilarious, I love Richard Ayoade too, I love that dead pan-ness

Mr Bean is very funny. What would be wrong with any version of him?

WHen I first saw Evans in the 90's I thought he was very original. After half an hour I was not laughing anymore.

Alf 17-09-2023 09:45 PM

I could post a clip of Lee Evans doing a joke about cheese and onion crisps that would be funnier then anything Greg Davies or Richard Ayoade have ever done in their careers. And Ayeode was in the Mighty Boosh. Which I love and Davies was in the Inhetweeners.

They''d never get the laughs of Lee Evans buying a packet of cheese and onion from a petrol station.

You've made the point I was gonna make. Back in the 90's he was quite original but it wore off quite quickly

It really didn't. The guy is one of the greatest. If you don't count Billy Connally as nineties then he was the best UK of the nineties for the working class. If you went to University then Eddie Izzard was your man. Or woman as it's known today.

But even then I knew I'd find a much better laugh definitely without you :hee:
