Matty is just a pretentious twat that likes to look edgy at the same time. I would happily call him a twat to his face

I've never raided any bins but I use the app Olio to get free food, that is at the end of its Best Before or Use By date.

I have also used 2 Good 2 Go app.

…I recall watching a documentary about it one time, quite a while ago…it’s a lifestyle choice that seems to have grown over resent times and those who follow it seem to be thriving and healthy etc…so it really is food for thought…/…no pun intended…

Why do your supermarkets throw away in date food? That seems crazy to me. I've worked in plenty of food retail situations and it would never happen.

I dont think the food is as these end up as yellow sticker items, they are items that have just gone out of date, these cannot be donated to food banks due to Health and Safety

It depends if the food is marked with a sell by or use by date. Sell by is still ok as the food doesn’t need to be actually used by then a lot of the time.

James 29-10-2023 08:29 AM

You can freeze a lot of foods before their Use By date and use them later.

Benjamin 29-10-2023 08:34 AM

It’s actually technically illegal still in the UK. I only know parts of USA and Australia where it’s legal.

I would have thought that it is a serious health issue for food that includes a use by date that also requires refrigeration. Thats asking for trouble

Also, i always smell food before i eat it irrespective of use by date. Thats a more important indicator than anything else

I've got nothing against Freegans, tbh I wish I had to balls to dabble :joker:

BUT from what I've seen at least it does seem to be middle class wankers who partake, I've not heard of actual poor people doing it.

And it's needless to say, I bet it would be a lot heavier stigmatised if they did...

This was what alot of people use to mix up, ' use by' & ' best before ' , alot of food getting thrown away will be ' best before ' ,and technical still ok ... just not as fresh.

People complain about there is not enough food to feed families ( which is a load of balony imo, but)The UK wastes approximately 9.52 million tonnes of food every year.,so if good food can be found in dumpsters etc if its clean and in date so be it, I wouldnt use it as stick to beat someone,
