I can pull up Twitter now and show you that what Olivia said is true. There’s so many people out there who dislike someone simply because they’re trans. The Facebook mothers are the worst.

and they are fans of the BB and vote?

because that is what this thread is about

But on a Show like Big Brother, saying negative things about the public to do with prejudice will be divisive, rightly or wrongly.

Plus anybody that had genuine issues with Hallie will also not like being associated with Transphobes.

100% agree with this. I don’t carry any prejudices against trans people, but would have voted Hallie due to her attitude and behaviour, which I see as quite separate to her identity.

I’m sure Olivia is right in that a minority of viewers might have voted Hallie because she is trans, however she seemed to be suggesting that it would have been a much greater majority, and nearly tipped into a conspiracy theory with what she said. To me, that is an insult, and a misjudgment of most of the audience.

She seemed to show no recognition that Hallie’s annoying behaviour might have been a reason for her eviction, and I wonder if that was because doing so would make her feel vulnerable as she has displayed some very similar behaviour at times.

Exactly.

"People only voted for Hallie because they are transphobic" is such a ridiculous thing to say. She more than earned her votes.

I hate the overuse and misuse of that term by malicious mouth breathers so much.

Call a woman a woman these days and you somehow end up a transphobe… BUT yh, if she was the nicest girl in there and loved by all the public it would be a bit suspicious that she got evicted.. but she just wasn’t very likeable and very annoying, that’s what it boils down to…

So true :clap1:

Yes. People who watch and comment on the show nightly. Transphobes who refused to call Hallie HER and openly stated they were “voting him out”.

It absolutely is.

I don't think Hallie was evicted due to transphobia, I voted for her and I'm definitely not, but to say transphobia isn't a problem right now is just flat out incorrect.

…this exactly for me also…with regards to transphobia specifically being a reason for Hallie’s eviction, though…which were the thoughts of Olivia that it may be…?…I was looking in another site at a poll result of Pleased or Disappointed that Hallie was evicted…?…and although it was indeed a close result, the majority vote was that fans were disappointed…and here also, in who out of the three would you want to see evicted…?….the majority voted Dylan to go, ideally….I'm guessing that because Olivia liked Hallie on a personal level…?…that she overlooked behaviours that viewers weren’t overlooking and what votes are based on through a series…

I don't buy that at all, I think Hallie was voted out for being an annoying entitled brat for a large percentage of her time in the house

Actually I think Olivia is actually the one who is transphobic, she brought it up when it clearly wasn't an issue for anyone. News flash Olivia, people don't like annoying brats, you can't blame being trans to ease your conscience!!

Yes. They live tweet along with the episodes. I find it baffling that you would deny these type of bigots exist in 2023

As if people can't dislike a person past their 'thing'. This passive aggressive implied transphobia when in reality no one gives a **** unless you are forcing it is tiresome.

God, the modern accepted mindset... It drives me nuts.

Notice how she never talked about ' Prejudices ' when an Asian Muslim woman was first evicted or a Thai bloke second , she's full of BS  . For once Jenkin said something sensible ...when he said how ridiculous it was.

do you have evidence they watch BB rather than try to inflame the situation with rhetoric?

She did back it up by saying people who dont even watch the show will have voted against haillie solely because she is trans.

And she was correct, many people will have.

Glenn. 30-10-2023 07:49 PM

You only have to take a trip to serious debates to see transphobia.

Benjamin 30-10-2023 07:51 PM

There defo will have been people who voted her out purely for being trans. But that would be a minority. The majority voted her because she’d acted like a brat.

i would say as a demographic, the BB audience would be one of the most supportive around given their previous voting history over the years

They actually discussed both those hms in the same conversation.

It was all the husbands pissed off at their wives who wont let them watch football cause bb is on.

All the wives loved her, but their votes to save her by voting the other 2 were cancelled out by the bitter husbands, sat sniggering to themselves on their, and only theirs, armchairs.

PoppyC 30-10-2023 09:56 PM

I could be remembering wrong, but wasn't Olivia asked directly by BB why Hallie was voted out of the house?

She had to say something and she might not have wanted to say anything negative about Hallie. It's easier to criticise the faceless public.

I agree that what she said is unlikely to be true, or at least not on a big enough scale to affect the vote
