Yeah thinking back to what I typed, it doesn't actually sound beyond the bounds of reason for something that moronic to be inserted slap-bang in the middle of what's ostensibly meant to be a historical war epic. :joker: Though I would hope Ridley Scott would be one of the last directors to succumb to that kind of silliness.

Just watched it and I thought it was very good, some of the best battle scenes I've seen on cinema although I do agree it was too heavily centred around Josephine. It's also not very complementary to Napoleon so I'm not surprised the French don't like it, it's a bit of reductionist portrayal and you don't get any sense of his genius
