Yeah he is, he's hooked too

…I think that’s good as well to have that male and female view…?…it provided a lot of conversation for us…

Niamh. 24-04-2024 10:32 AM

Luke watched it with us too, he's already watched the whole thing through though

Niamh. 25-04-2024 09:46 AM

Finished it last night, honestly I'm not sure what I think

Spoiler:

It really is just so honest and complicated, the human psyche is weird.

Just on a point you mentioned earlier too Ammi about the sex of the stalker/victim. I agree there's a different level of fear when the sexes are reversed. Not that Martha wasn't dangerous of course but as a man Donnie would have been able to defend himself easier than a woman would against a man

Anyway I hope Richard/Donnie got himself into therapy to help him try to get through all this stuff, it was a lot

It is a very interesting show, albeit an uncomfortable watch at times

Probably don't read this spoiler Cherie until you're a few more episodes in but

Spoiler:

I think his is a very honest depiction to the complicated and seemingly illogical reactions to being a victim of sexual abuse. It's very uncomfortable to watch but it's a story that's hard to deal with that bare and grittily truthful because in a way it can make the victim look bad or less of a victim in some peoples eyes

Spoiler:

I know that Jessica Meuse was saying something similar about her Domestic Abuse situation on her YouTube channel, she said something along the lines of being in love with her boyfriend and not really realizing how unhealthy the relationship was getting until further down the line, and they were in a really toxic relationship, apparently he was suffering with Narcissistic personality disorder.

It's a year old video that got recommended to me due to listening to her songs, I promise that I didn't deliberately stalk for this information.

I genuinely did feel bad for her though.

And obviously I feel bad that this guy had to deal with what looks to be one hell of a life story.

Spoiler:

…yeah, it was a completely different perspective, wasn’t it…and it felt that one huge difference was the ‘absence of fear’…the absence of feeling threat…?…he didn’t even seem to absorb any terrifying aspect to it when Teri was attacked….and similarly with Darrien, who was drugging him to sexually abuse him…?…he knew that it was happening, obviously….it just made him feel more and more self loathing …but there was no fear for threat of safety, was there…

I think I got as far as I can get with it it's a bit too disturbing for me. The last episode I watched she was just sat at the bus stop for 13+ hours staring. I don't know if I can bring myself to see it through to the end it made me feel odd

Join the club, Ninastar.

Become one of us.

But being serious, I recommend that you never watch a Korean series called Mouse, going by what you've said in this thread.

Watch an Anime called Chainsaw Man.

It basically feels like it's a 14 year old's attempt at writing something "dark" and "edgy."

Spoiler:

My take from it is that people in power or who can perhaps provide something i.e Darrien get away with literally anything, Donny let the abuse happen because he felt Darrien could help his career, yet he reported Martha, quite rightly but he should have reported both surely .... he seems a very messed up guy

Ninastar 02-05-2024 03:41 PM

Em and I watched it all. I have many thoughts but I probably won’t be able write it all right now so I may type it up in my notes and then post later

My main take from this tho… is that yet again there are ****ed up people in the film/show making industry who take advantage of innocent people just want to be happy and live their truth.

Obvs Martha was crazy af and needed to go to jail, but that film writer was the clear villain in the grand scheme of things

Also, I like how much awareness is brought up for those who are mentally ill. I feel like this show is going to be a HUGE eye opener for many people and I think this is a good thing.

I presumed that Donny was revisiting him to set things straight .. so to speak
