Ex-No 10 chief of staff predicts exodus of Tory MPs in coming days

Lord Barwell, who served as chief of staff in No 10 during Theresa May’s premiership,
predicted a “fair few” Tory MPs will announce in the coming days that they are standing
down if Rishi Sunak does call an election on July 4, as expected.

The Tory peer said that would not be an “ideal start” for the Conservative campaign.

Maybe he's realising he won't be able to give any sweeteners now later in the year.
