Yes and we should feel ashamed of it anytime it happens. It doesn't matter how it "looks". It's more human to feel shame. I feel sad for humankind and the things we are seeing regularly in the news and in the States particularly, but I'm not going to make excuses for bad people. There's plenty of people that have done that for them already it seems that it happened in this case. But can we actually prevent it? No. To be a free society, we have to give up an artificial sense of safety and that may include living amongst people who may never like "us". The alternative is far worse, imo, is no freedom and people being told how to act and behave under government mandate. I think the best deterrent is what happened, was that they were lawfully charged. Will they get to plea out? I think it's likely they'll plea, but it'll be a warning for people not to go further than that (but hopefully not at all from here)
I did watch what I think is the full version. I couldn't get the Dailymail version to play, so I had to search on YT. I'm glad nobody assaulted him in the streets or anything like that, but it was very sad to see nobody else seemed to intervene. Though it wasn't really clear what was going on as most of the bystander's faces were hidden from view. I'm hoping they feel shame now. The lady wasn't even talking to him like a human being. |
